artgon··on Owning a Car Will Soon Be as Quaint as Owning a Horse
I mean I'm all for it, in principle, but this is about as out of touch as it gets.
artgon··on Asciinema – Record and share your terminal sessions
Me too. What's the correct pronunciation? "Ass-cinema"?
artgon··on Evolution of Sexual Intimidation: Male Baboons Beat Up Females, Increases Mating
Yes. They're called non-adaptive traits or spandrels: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spandrel_(biology)
artgon··on MonolithFirst
The deciding factor probably isn't technological but rather human. If you want to keep your teams to 5-10 people and you want to maintain autonomy for teams as you scale, you'll need to split up your monolith.
artgon··on Lightbot: A simple programming game
This is a really clever way to help people get an idea of what programming is all about.

Great work!

artgon··on Scala: the Case for Correctness
Thanks for pointing out the typo, I fixed it.

By academic correctness, I mean the formal definition in computer science, i.e. for an algorithm. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correctness_(computer_science)

By this measure, it's hard to say any language is more or less "correct" than another.

artgon··on DNA seen through the eyes of a coder
I would be very interested as well.
artgon··on Size Comparison - Science Fiction spaceships
Where's the Homeworld ship? Isn't it supposed to be ~25km?
artgon··on The Great Language Game: How many languages can you distinguish between?
800! w00t
artgon··on Amish Hackers
Should mention this post is from 2009.
artgon··on I'm Building a GitHub for Writers
Agreed. Draft tackles versioning and editing in markdown very well. The incremental save feature makes all of this transparent to the writer.
artgon··on The CODE Keyboard
I've been using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic keyboard for a long time and it's relieved a lot of wrist pains I used to have. I'm a little tentative to switch to something without a palm rest and without being able to position my hands farther apart.

This looks pretty good, though. I've been looking for a new mechanical keyboard for a while but haven't found anything that quite fits yet. Would love to hear some reviews once this gets out there.

artgon··on Introducing Silvrback: Hosted, Markdown-Powered Blogging
I like the idea but I still prefer using Github pages for my blog. Not to mention it's free.
artgon··on iCloud Beta Incorporates iOS 7 Look and Feel
Seems like it's still being built in Sproutcore, FWIW.
artgon··on How to name your startup: A 9 month first-hand journey through rebranding
How would you rate Learndot based on that scale?
