annyeonghada··on Ask HN: Where are all the parties?
Your lack of empathy for men and your objectification of men as mere walking dicks is truly disgusting. You are definitely part of why men do not trust women: you are part of the problem. If being afraid of the, quite frequent, false accusations is misogyny then I am a misogynist.
annyeonghada··on Ask HN: Where are all the parties?
>It doesn't happen that often

Neither is sexual assault. Now try to use said justification against a victim. What is happening is that the empress is naked and we are not impressed by her accusations.

I wish we had the stability you talk about. Here, not in the US but in a kafkaesque hellhole, our political class decided that the job market should be flexible: that meant that finding a stable employment contract is a farce: instead of having a probationary period you have contracts for 6 months of fulltime work written of as internship and payed as such, and you can be sure the contract will not be renovated so you change job every six month because it is illegal to renovate an internship contract, you offer fulltime or you fire. Meanwhile this "companies" keep churning people using them like almost-slaves because people are desperate: 8 hours a day? No, no: 10 is the minimum otherwise there's something more desperate that will take your "internship". And you end up 40 years old, living with your parents, unable to afford anything other than distraction and then you listen to the TV about the "brain-drain" and start saving money for the plane ticket.

Maybe the fact that they were used by seemingly very different society for thousand of years and society who did enforce them were more stable and successful? The hubris of modern people to think they are so enlightened they can engineer society to fit they ideological views as if humans were mere economical units.

>For what it's worth, I don't actually think IQ is a canonical measure of intelligence, and the narrative people have of "being stupid" is often driven by society valuing certain kinds of intelligence more than others.

Not only IQ is correlated with every positive prosocial behavior we, in general, value but every seemingly disparate form of intelligence is correlated to the others so we can, in fact, talk about a single form of intelligence that manifest in different form (generally named "g factor"). This is just the inherent unfairness of life. I wish it wasn't true and only your hard-work would matter, but it doesn't.

annyeonghada··on Climatic and environmental aspects of Mongol withdrawal from Hungary (2016)
Women represent at most 2% of the victim of every war that we have data on. Trying to reframe the suffering of men, and only men, as a women problem is one the most vile things done by the modern zeitgeist. Shame on everyone who doesn't remember who really fights in war, and that is not women.
annyeonghada··on Idols and Good Old Gods
Yoga is stretching. Ayurveda is pseudoscientific nonsense. Meditation exists in lots of religious traditions. Now let's talk about the cast system. Wasn't that a way for high status people to "other" anyone who wasn't them?

I have a dog and still find very uncanny to compare a baby human being to a puppy. A symptom of an ill society.
annyeonghada··on The end of the high school essay
>new wave hippy-esque thing

Strange because I'm from [country in EU]: homework generally have no bearing on the final grade and considering homework it's considered permissive and hippy-esque: they can cheat, copy, make the parents/siblings do it, ask the Internet to do it and so on. The actual, rigorous evaluation happens in class and only in class, homework assigned so you can prepare for the actual test.

annyeonghada··on The end of the high school essay
>critical thinking and learning

If my experience with essays means anything is that to receive a good grade you need to regurgitate the teacher pet causes using the most flowery language possible. No thinking involved.

I think you wanted to say "not allowed".

Or in the exact time slice you got the data there weren't any brown applicants.

Maybe try suggesting some serious historical scholarship instead of ideologues.

>you would expect the hiring to equally reflect both demographics

No, I wouldn't expect this at all as I do not expect the height distribution of basketball player to reflect the height distribution of the general population. As I do not expect the personality trait distribution of pop stars to be the same of programmers, and again I do not expect the latter to be similar to the general population. Personal inclination, innate intelligence, talent, conscientiousness, and of course demographics, parenting, generational wealth all play a role.

annyeonghada··on Ask HN: What are some surprising ways to gain social status?
In my experience people love douchebags, especially if they are attractive and talk with confidence about things they have no idea about.
annyeonghada··on Ask HN: What are some surprising ways to gain social status?
This only works if you're already high status otherwise you will be labeled a "loser". Already burned once on that.
annyeonghada··on It’s not just what you eat, but the time of day you eat it
Opposite anecdote: when I tried skipping breakfast for a month I was so miserable for the entire time and my mind could only think about the time of the next meal.
annyeonghada··on It’s not just what you eat, but the time of day you eat it
There is nothing scientific in nutrition science. Conflicts of interests, ideological diets like veganism or keto, corporate intromission, religious bias against certain food, impossibility of controlling if the participants to the study are actually following the diet, lots of self reporting and so on and on...
annyeonghada··on It’s not just what you eat, but the time of day you eat it
>means using definitions of "violence" and "abuse" very different from ordinary English

Incredible how the same critic is never moved against women when engage in the same kind of Newspeak. Let's remember that "speech as violence" was not invented by men.

annyeonghada··on It’s not just what you eat, but the time of day you eat it
>Men are continually trying to paint sexism as symmetric

Exactly, considering that in almost every societal metric that matters men do worse than women sexism against men is much worse, nothing symmetric.

annyeonghada··on Ask HN: Since when is everything a scam?
>When that something that you want to quit spending money on can be characterized as "other people who I don't identify with"

Everyone wants to spend money on something or someone they identify with. It's not like the left has showed any leniency against those it deems unworthy.

annyeonghada··on Men Without Work (2016)
This is the way. The social contract is broken, we are left with hedonism and distraction. I love it.
annyeonghada··on Men Without Work (2016)
Your lived experience is irrelevant. Statistical trends are.
annyeonghada··on Men Without Work (2016)
This is just the usual pseudo-academical sneer again white males to say that everything that happens to them it's their fault. No white male that I know - and considering the suicide rates, no statistically significant portion of white males - has ever had the impression that someone looked out for them: this starting in kindergarten where "teachers" made very clear that females were preferred.
annyeonghada··on Men Without Work (2016)
Are they sufficiently desperate to pay a reasonable wage with reasonable vacations? Not in my experience.
annyeonghada··on Men Without Work (2016)
>I know how I come across is my problem

No, it's not: it's theirs. We are constantly being told that stereotyping is "very very bad": against women, gays, blacks, jews, asians and so on and on... but somehow negative connotations of white men - generally falsehood - are exempted from the possibility of being seen in a charitable light.

annyeonghada··on Ask HN: How do you stay productive after work hours?
If not fetishizing "productivity" and relaxing is living a "meaningless, wasted life" by all means I want to be the person living a meaningless, wasted life.
annyeonghada··on Facebook addiction increases depression severity among already depressed people
>just for money

And in certain slices of the globe there isn't even much of that! No risk of workaholism.

annyeonghada··on Facebook addiction increases depression severity among already depressed people
Food is definitely an obsession during my depressive episodes, especially if there is a suicidal component. I think constantly about food, I'm always hungry but at the same time everything disgusts me, I would like to not have to eat anymore: this ends up in a bulimic episode where I gorge everything in side, searching for something that fills that void and that taste just good, then I fast for 20-30 hours completely disgusted about what I've done.

Where is the evidence that people with Humanities knowledge are more ethical than those without? Where is the evidence that STEM people are some kind of psychopath stereotype?

Related: How many STEM people have knowledge in the Humanities? How many Humanities people have STEM knowledge?

There's one part that narcissistically decided that they're above the "cold facts and rules" of the Sciences. There's one side that devalue the other, and it's not the STEM one.
