Especially from snobby "hackers" with who lack a sense of perspective and empathy to other people's situations.
People stuck at home, with extra spending money, and a desire for internet points, caused your deviation from normality in investing.
This is how I feel, 3 years later, after getting the 11 Pro in 2019. If I do upgrade this year, I'll give it to my dad, and he'll probably use it till it breaks :)
Started using Beeper which is built on top of the Matrix protocol. Even with this nice abstraction app, there were several steps to set up and then connect to the various bridges they have. They're still very much a beta product.
There is no path for non-tech users to start using Element/Matrix or some Fediverse thing. These are excellent concepts, but they will remain there, as nice ideas. Because they are not a quick three-step process of Download -> Setup -> Chat with Friend
I have 4 large (10+) groups that are friend groupings from different interest areas. Which use iMessage/WhatsApp/Signal
1 huge one for a group of concert/rave friends on Signal
3 overlapping groups of various family-relatives using iMessage/WhatsApp
I don't even need to open FB/IG anymore. Bye Felica
How many feelings can you evoke with a simple, FUCK!
Why they would need to have a CPU check? Does the software have some anti-cheating mechanism?
Enable the Calibre web server, then use KyBook to connect to it and download the books you want while on the same network as the Calibre server. You can set up a public URL if you want to access them remotely
One feature I recently learned was Highlights [1]
You can select a passage of text on the page, then when bookmarked, it'll save the selected text. Allows for multiple highlights. And then visiting the page in the future those texts clips will then be highlighted again.
There's a school near me with a nice large area great for skating around. Most of the equipment is the newer style plastic hunks with soft edges and a rubber mat surface on the ground.
Have seen kids there find all sorts of ways to nearly injury themselves. They're having fun like I used to as a kid. And we had the murder bars and fling-yourself-gorounds. Newer designs might only help prevent scraped knees and pinched fingers.
Now the kids with their helicopter parents look annoyed and miserable. The kid tries to run and gets yelled at to slow down. They get to excited and told to calm down. Parents will wait at the bottom of slides and catch kids before they have even reached the end.
You'll have nosy neighbors calling cops on kids because they're walking down street without parents.
We've created a fear bubble around kids and they don't know what danger is. Let them make mistakes! Let them explore their spacial surroundings and fall down!
> Use your brain, as I'm always telling my kids.
Proceeds to be mean.
Classic troll move op.
Same thing any time WordPress does anything notable.
Teams make tech decisions based on multiple factors. Sometimes the ones like "bizarrely deep object tree that is impossible to reason about" are found to be less important. Because at the end of the day websites are for the wider public audience, who aren't affected by bike shedding
Then let you adjust the selection area in relaxed way
I always make sure to enable "Remember Last Selection", which is great when you're taking repeated screenshots of the same area. Once you've created the selection area you'll get exact sizes every time.
If you require more than 100M in net worth to be "motivated" to work. There's a larger problem with you. Being a CEO/leader doesn't require some skill set that's given to you from some mythical watery being just because you're special.
Personally I feel the larger problem is the mostly invisible city workers and non-profits that are constantly sidelined by the visible elected officials. There are a great many projects slowing making an impact. But they often lose funding or support once someone has finished using them for some Twitter/photo op.
Pet projects are the norm, feels like no one wants to do the hard work to reform processes in place that allow for deadlock :(
We're converting our app components to using Tailwind. But there was some initial resistance as the current setup of css-in-js was fine. Fine but not great, and we had ended up with a lot of weird custom css blobs over time.
One side benefit is you can just install Tailwind and use it in isolated way. Which is what I did. Converted a couple components to using Tailwind and demoed them. Got positive feedback. Most element only need a handful of classes. And the elements themselves are just normal HTML with a class.
Components feel quicker to scan now. Initially skeptical devs have noted the ease at which they can build out a new component. Without having to get bogged down in writing css.
Which to me is the real goal of Tailwind, improving DX by abstracting the boring and error prone way of writing CSS for applications.
