aimatt··on Ketogenic Diets and Chronic Disease: Benefits vs. Risks
Something about this article is just fishy to me.

"Very-low-carbohydrate diets may lack vitamins, minerals, fiber, and phytochemicals found in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains (6–8). "

How many vitamins are in non-fortified grains?

"However, findings from a recent trial by Hall et al. suggest that a low-fat vegan diet (10% energy from fat) may be more effective than a ketogenic diet in suppressing appetite (27). "

"Conflict of Interest" "[she is the author of a food and nutrition blog, Veggie Quest]"

Well that post gave me some serious blue balls
aimatt··on Go is not an easy language
Some things are done on purpose so that you consciously know how expensive of an operation you are doing. In languages like Python, it's easy to abuse convenient operations that do a ton of computation. Then you have to spent time with valgrind or something similar and figure out what the heck is causing the code to be so slow.

Man the indentation in this article is confusing me.
aimatt··on Goodbye Microservices: From 100s of problem children to 1 superstar
Someone better tell Google to merge all their code back into one repo, haha
aimatt··on Goodbye Microservices: From 100s of problem children to 1 superstar
I imagine that your development velocity with this monolith is enabled by the modularity of your code that was enforced as microservices. This benefit will wane and if you had started with a monolith would be much worse.

What happens if you stand at a standing desk and exercise? It's going well for me. $10 in lumber to convert my normal sitting desk.

aimatt··on €2.99 Kimsufi/OVH servers - Have you been able to order one?
I waited about a week before contacting paypal and cancelling my order. It's been about 2 business days since I replaced it with a credit card, so we'll see.
aimatt··on US issues travel alert, will close embassies due to al Qaeda threat
Funny how Snowden gets asylum in Russia and the next day Al Qaida becomes pertinent again. Smells fishy.

aimatt··on Soylent Subterfuge: When a Bad Joke Turns into a Business
I wouldn't eat the tasteless crap and this guy is spot on. However, some of these comments stating eating only this stuff vs eating all processed food isn't too far off.

At the very least, I would not use a fast carb like dextrose/glucose, I would say use a longer burning carb to reduce energy spikes and dips.

Macbook Air. Macbook Pro if you can spend a little more.
aimatt··on Linus is wrong about being a jerk
If it were me and he said "no", my reaction would be, "whoops, my bad". If he said "fuck no, etc", I would be like, "shit, I better not do that again".
aimatt··on Linus is wrong about being a jerk
I think the point is the next time someone goes to commit a change which fixes nothing and won't even compile, they will think twice and actually test it first due to the chastising they received the previous time they did it. Then there does not need to be a second "No". The quality of the software goes up.
aimatt··on Linus is wrong about being a jerk
Gee, no comments allowed on that page. Scared of getting lamb-basted.

If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

They also have daily trading limits as well as a grace period while they wait for the transaction to complete.
aimatt··on What Is The Best Hosting Service?
GoDaddy is awful. Digital ocean is great, but you have to manage the server yourself. Dreamhost is a little easier to manage, but you don't get a vps for that price point.
