abhi3··on Prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in Spain: a nationwide seroepidemiological study
Key points:

1) Seroprevalance of antibodies in just 5% of the population in one of the hardest hit European countries

2) No difference in infection rates based on gender

3) Large variations in seroprevalence based on symptoms:

No symptoms - 2.8%; Several Symptoms - 12.3%; Loss of smell - 40.1%

Actual cases 8x the official count and IFR of just over 1%

This study is the largest yet and weakens the case for the pursuit of herd immunity without vaccines (28k fatalities with an infection rate of just 5%)

abhi3··on Procrastination is not a time management problem, it is an emotion
The fact that Chronic procrastination = Likely ADHD i.e. an inherent neurological issue, needs to be propagated more widely so people can stop feeling guilty about it and not treat it like some emotional/moral/work ethic failure.
abhi3··on China Once Looked Tough on Trade. Now Its Options Are Dwindling
> Every president has declared the ICJ irrelevant. The Pentagon would send tanks to the White House if a President so much as hinted at accepting ICJ jurisdiction.

Uhm...as far as 'even hinting' goes President Clinton did sign on to The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court without any tanks being rolled out.

abhi3··on India court legalises gay sex in landmark ruling
Wait till you hear about these crimes:

1) Section 497 in The Indian Penal Code Adultery.—Whoever has sexual intercourse with a person who is and whom he knows or has reason to believe to be the wife of another man, without the consent or connivance of that man, such sexual intercourse not amounting to the offence of rape, is guilty of the offence of adultery, and shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine, or with both. abhi3··on Stock-trading app Robinhood was rejected by 75 investors
They sell orders/trading data of small retail investors to Big High Frequency Traders so that they can gain an edge in the zero sum game of day trading. 'Robinhood' seems like an apt name.
abhi3··on How to Find Investors and Get Email Intros
Speaking from personal experience, for first time founders rasing early rounds I would actually recommend going through an associate as you likely have no idea what you are doing and associates have more time and patience to hand-hold you through the process and prepare you for the partner meeting. You only get one shot with the decision makers and if you have no previous experience you are almost certain to blow it even if you have read every piece of advice on the internet.

Sure if you are Justin Kan you don't want to bother with another gatekeeper but if you are not then convincing the gatekeeper may actually prepare you to convince the decision maker.

abhi3··on In 2004, Zuckerberg Broke Into a Facebook User's Private Email Account (2010)

abhi3··on UN: Facebook has turned into a beast in Myanmar
Zuckerburg today:

"I remember, one Saturday morning, I got a phone call and we detected that people were trying to spread sensational messages through — it was Facebook Messenger in this case — to each side of the conflict, basically telling the Muslims, “Hey, there’s about to be an uprising of the Buddhists, so make sure that you are armed and go to this place.” And then the same thing on the other side."

abhi3··on The defiance of an 'untouchable' New York subway worker
You are completely wrong. I have lived my entire life in Delhi and I can tell you that there is rampant caste discrimination in urban India. I can cite many anecdotes but usually the denial of discrimination, which your comment does, is in itself an indicator of bias.
abhi3··on Britain expels Russian diplomats over poisoning of ex-spy

abhi3··on Did American Missile Defense Fail in Saudi Arabia?
It's the velocity that makes things tricky. Imagine trying to hit a bullet with a bullet, you may know where it's being fired from and where it's headed, how fast it's going, the wind speed all other variables but hitting it would still be an impossible task.

One way to improve missile defense accuracy would be to use a small nuclear warhead but that's impractical when defending populated areas and anyway your adversary can make new missiles more quickly an cheaply than you can make nuclear bombs.

Modern missiles make things more complicated by using multiple re-entry vehicles, midflight maneuvering, creating a cloud around the warhead to prevent targetting etc.

abhi3··on Elon Musk: Falcon Heavy's first payload will be my Tesla Roadster to Mars

abhi3··on How to Tell If You’re a Jerk

abhi3··on Alcohol and tobacco kill far more people than opioids
>So throwing people in metal cages is a good solution here? Cause that's the cost that the US has accepted when violating these controls. And these laws don't exactly have a good result either.

Compared to the Opium Wars where China had to go to war with Britain to prevent civilizational collapse from drug use, yes jailing peddlers of poison seems acceptable.

abhi3··on Alcohol and tobacco kill far more people than opioids
> I tend to go on the side of freedom, even if it's "free to be dumb"

The issue is not as simple as you characterize it. Should 'freedom to be dumb' include freedom to drive drunk/while texting?

>And both attempt to say that their actions are addictive, therefore we cannot trust their actions, so we have to decide for them.

You seem to think that these controls exist for the protection of the addicts. They don't. They exist to protect the society and economy from a downward spiral caused by widespread drug addiction - which is what will happen if you remove all controls.

abhi3··on Republicans Release Tax Plan, Cutting Corporate and Middle-Class Taxes
This is no mild reorganization but a reorganization to the tune of trillions of dollars. And while I am all for redistribution of wealth, taxing rich people at 91% (or anything over the average rate in developed countries) is a great way to get people to leave for good and lose out on even the 39.5%.

abhi3··on Reverse engineering of competitor’s software cost company big
You are oversimplifying the situation. Two sufficiently sophisticated parties having more or less balanced bargaining power, as was the case in this situation, should be free to contract according to their will and good/bad judgment.

Of course, if you are a retail consumer who had no bargaining power and agreed to a standard form contract without any legal counsel then different rules should apply to you and in such cases courts will apply the test of unconscionability before enforcing any clause.

abhi3··on A place spacecraft go to die
> Who is responsible for covering damages caused by this satellite?

Space Law is a developing and mostly uncodified field of International Law, but it is generally considered very uncontroversial that the nation(s)/cosporation(s) responsible for causing the satellite to go out of control should foot the bill for any cleanup/damages. It could be the entity that made a faulty satellite or the entity that failed to launch it to the proper orbit or even an entity that created the debris that caused another satellite to lose orbit.
