_tik_··on South Dakota first to ban TikTok on state-owned devices
How can you tell whether they hate the govt or xonophobe? Some racists use the same excuse to justify their behavior.

There is some CCP scheme to use TikTok to turn American society lazyand teach some Stems sounds very conspiracy to me. Paranoia and conspiracy thinking are the symptoms of xenophobia.

In my home country, Youtube recommendations are mostly related to porn and I have to use VPN to access good-quality content on Netflix. Should I assume the US want to turn my countrymen stupid and horny. Or should I use my critical thinking youtube recomend things that are popular in my Country.

_tik_··on South Dakota first to ban TikTok on state-owned devices
I agree with both of your points. This reminds me while visiting the holocaust museum. The guide explained similar conspiracy popular believe that Jews have a great secret plan to poison European society. I assumed this kind of thinking is commons in Xenophobic situations either subconsciously or un subconsciously.
_tik_··on FCC Bans Authorizations for Devices That Pose National Security Threat
I wish this this true : "deals on mutual benefit". The Relationship are based on leverage though. There is no way my country able to ban US product or prevent US taking over strategic company based on security concern. Election interference and fake news from the West is also a normal things.
_tik_··on FCC Bans Authorizations for Devices That Pose National Security Threat
The traded deals are very far from the charity of the west.

The traded deals by the west were based on the benefit to the western countries. It is not a charity. The low inflation, the record profit of the western companies and bonuses are from cheap labour and resources from more desperate countries.

Some addition to your comment. The players that join Singapore is to get chances to compete Internationally. China has too many good table tennis players. Even their second and third-rate national players are still considered top International players.
_tik_··on Singing: The key to a long life (2008)
I am looking for a choir group to join. I did not see young or middle age members in all the choir groups I visited.
_tik_··on Nikon releases bug fix firmware update for the 10 year-old D7100 DSLR camera
I am still servicing my camera from the 80s and lens from the 70s with them. Nikon warranty in my country does not cover Internationally. But I am usually able to get servicing in every country even after out of the warranty period. Nikon waives my service fee quite frequently too.
_tik_··on Hertz paid Accenture $32M for a website that never went live (2019)
Andersen Consulting/Accenture is my first job. Accenture directly sends me to the client after finishing my orientation program and 2-3 days of training. On my first day arrived at the client side for some initial discussion. I saw everyone standing with anxious faces and suddenly everyone spontaneously laughing. On lunch time, the client told me this was their first time engaging a big consultant firm and they did not expect a kid.
_tik_··on Lin Zexu's Letter to Queen Victoria (1839)
Ok, now I know. I assumed HK was a Qing territory annexed by England. Like Russia annexed Donbas
_tik_··on Lin Zexu's Letter to Queen Victoria (1839)
I did not know Qing sent their Royal Navy to attack England. Can you provide any reference?

"more willing to undo the rules based order that has someone kept the world somewhat sane since WWII" What rules and order that justified by Invading Iraq
_tik_··on The Xinjiang Police Files
Agree to this. Living in a muslim majority country. Personally direct experience 2 suicide bombing. Around one block from my office. This radical Muslim hold the whole country as a hostage. Yesterday they just have a public rally supporting terrorist.
_tik_··on The Xinjiang Police Files
I am from a Muslim country. There are a few reasons that I can think of: China is not targeting Islam but the separatist movement. There are few Muslim ethnic groups in China. The other is Hui. The hui enjoys normal religious life without any prosecutions. The problem of Radical Islam. The rise of Radical Islam the last few years. Some of this group preaches violence and seperatism. Many Moslim feel unconfortable with the Radical Islam and prefer the govt to deal with them. The Hui Muslim does not get long well with Uighur Muslim. The Hui are motsly Sufi and anti Salafi. Most Muslim distrust western politic and news.
_tik_··on Execution by organ procurement: Breaching the dead donor rule in China
A Non-PRC Han Chinese Race here. Can you explain more how this related to Han Race or Culture? And what should I do so I can meet your superior-high morality standard culture and godly race? I live outside China and don't speak Mandarin.

Thanks

_tik_··on Folding bicycle small enough to fit in hand luggage
here in Singapore Brompton and Birdy are MAMIL standard ride.
_tik_··on My Experience Working and Living in China
Not OP. For the Singapore case. The main reason is practicality. Mandarin and English considered more important in Global Business. English educated political leaders assumed learning Mandarin was hindered by speaking dialect at home. Singapore is a young nation then.
_tik_··on Modern movies teach us awful lessons [video]
I think this argument is overstretching into a political argument. The live action Mulan movie is consider a flop in China. The Chinese audience hate it. It is more successful in Singapore and Saudi Arabia. Disney remove one of main major male character to be aligned with the MeeToo movement. For the Animation version the Chinese complained for their foreign looking character and it is too different from myth. China love Kung Fu panda. The find kung fu panda show a sincere love to Chinese culture without over trying too be a chinese.
_tik_··on It’s almost impossible to lose anything in Japan
from my experience this is quite normal in Taiwan and Singapore too. I saw few leave their iPhone or Laptop on the food court table.
_tik_··on Steam has been banned in China
Nah. Qing technically is Manchu. Qing racist to the Hans too. The main race in China. CCP actually has less racist ideology compare to others previous ruler in China. China is very complex country.
_tik_··on Steam has been banned in China
I experienced this a lot in India, some part of eastern Europe and Balkan. Most of them asked nicely. Told me that they come from a very small town there is not much chances to meet foreigner. And I usually ok with it. Don't find it is racist. It is just curiosity of other culture.
_tik_··on Steam has been banned in China
US already banned and blacklisted numbers of chinese companies
_tik_··on Steam has been banned in China
I though US maintains list of black listed companies
_tik_··on DBS Bank outage well into its second day with no meaningful update from DBD
When is this ? Are you a resident? Opening an Bank account in Singapore is just one or two click for resident. Just need to click the opening account then grant access to applicant information in Singapore's government Apps. And it will be approved in 5 minutes.
_tik_··on DBS Bank outage well into its second day with no meaningful update from DBD
My experience as an outsource partner with them 9 years ago. DBS only employed Project Manager and outsourced all their technical stuff. Yes the working hours is very long.
_tik_··on The Kingpin of Shanghai
Mao actually agreed to assign communist army under Stillwell to fight Japanese Joseph Stilwell is still well respected in CCP China. CCP has a museum for him.

_tik_··on The Kingpin of Shanghai
Chiang avoid fighting the Japanese because of his calculation allies will fight the Japanese in China. And his real war is with Communist. Chiang is a cunning politician.
_tik_··on The Kingpin of Shanghai
+1 to this. It is a very good read.

_tik_··on Swiss Ph.D student’s dismissal spotlights China’s influence
Having a Chinese partner is not guaranteed for not racism. This reminds me of the local case. A British Expat married to a local and posting racist comments on social media. His defense was the local failed to understand the British joke.
