_air··on Any Human Ever – One life, drawn at random from all who have ever lived
It's funny to pick a birth year from our era and think of how history will represent us:

Martha was born in the countryside near Short Pump, in 1993 CE. Her village holds about 300 people. She makes her home in a timber-framed detached house. Martha has neither brothers nor sisters. She eats mostly wheat bread and maize, pork and dairy, and potatoes and garden vegetables, with apples in season, and coffee, soft drinks and snack foods too. She knows her letters. Her height is about 171 cm (5 ft 7 in).

_air··on California leaders report four to six weeks worth of gasoline and diesel supply
Yeah, seems like a standard supply level to me.

"California’s inventory has averaged just over 20 days of supply over the last five years (2019–23), compared with the U.S. average of 21.6 days."

_air··on GitHub's Historic Uptime
Do we have metrics for the uptime of other major services? Would be interesting to see if this is just a GitHub problem or industry-wide.
_air··on iPhone 17 Pro Demonstrated Running a 400B LLM
This is awesome! How far away are we from a model of this capability level running at 100 t/s? It's unclear to me if we'll see it from miniaturization first or from hardware gains

_air··on Google's AI-generated search results keep citing The Onion
Is Google losing significant web traffic to ChatGPT and others? I don't understand why else they'd test a product like this so widely.
_air··on Should I use a pie chart?

_air··on Did RobinHood crash because of a leap year bug?
I wouldn’t jump to conclusions right away, this might be a bug in their web app rather than all clients.

_air··on Show HN: Embrayce, Better Online Communities
Hey HN! My friend and I have been working on this for the past month or so, to solve the problem of community overgrowth. Basically we feel there is a problem with all good online communities where they grow exponentially and this massive growth has large negative impacts on the overall feel of the community.

So we're introducing embrayce. Our solution is that the platform manages your communities so that they always stay small and personal. This helps you build actual relationships and friendships with the people in your community. We'd really love it if you gave it a try and let us know what you thought. We're totally open to building the platform that people want, and we'd love to work with everyone who's interested in making the best platform for online communities.

TL;DR: we made embrayce and we'd love feedback!
