I believe image classification/analysis by deciders (not just OCR, not everything is about text) is still lacking.
Cloudflare's Clef had fair results on my test, but it's larger and slower. Wondering about Strands.
Backside of the panels. This might help you understand why the amount of space used is not at all extravagant. We're spoiled with our disposable, tiny electronics. Those things were meant to last decades.

Yes, josm is an ugly java tool but this did not prevent me from doing a lot of mapping back in the days.
While the premise is neat (syntaxes and tokenizers are pretty similar, how much diversity can humans possibly come up with??), this does not inspire much confidence in the accuracy.
Occasionally though, I want to share or save a photo. Having this (small) button is quite convenient.

I'm not even touching on the human concerns regarding population displacement.
Open-weights perhaps, but definitely not self-hostable – since those require $20k+ capex – which is the real "step change" to me, as it ends the stranglehold providers have over censorship.
The only silver lining would be increased competition in API providers of those open-weight models leading to truly affordable prices and a race to remove stupid "safety" checks.
