My wife and I are American but we’re in the UK now, just to see how we like it before committing to a permanent move. We’ve also looked at Germany but I’ve struggled with the language, and although she’s conversationally fluent, I feel like forming deep friendships would be difficult.
Luckily, for me, it came at the very end and I was able to finish.
Worse was that I compressed my ulnar nerve and had loss of feeling and tingling in my left arm for 6 months.
Lots of good memories from that ride.
UK is listed as 37 and I’d love to know why.
There have been a few times when, post interviews, I’ve been on the hiring panel and someone said “I don’t know if they were just nervous or what…”. Just be totally upfront about it, especially for a junior position.
My brother won't return his shopping cart to the shopping cart return area because, in those 30 seconds where his back is turned, someone is likely to take his children. One parent told me they take it one step further and they won't use passenger door to put their children in the car. Instead, they reach through the car from the driver's door. This way they don't have to walk around the car which would allow someone to take their child.
I've suggested just locking the children in the car but it seems like solving the wrong problem, really.
An AI in control of humanities resources was also the plot of one of the stories in I, Robot (the book, not the movie).
Plus, it keeps my phone free for photography.
You’re right about his story. His book is great, simply for the first quarter where he tells how he got where he is.
I have seen visit logs where people visit my articles from Google years after I write them so it seems to be working. And more then once I’ve been stuck, googled the problem, and found my own article because I forgot I’ve solved this exact problem before.
I did try it via bicycle, and it did take about the same amount of time. But the streets here are vary narrow and southern hospitality ends when you get in a car.
My first week I mentioned something to my boss about being remote after the first month and he had no idea. The recruiter had simply lied about "negotiating" so that I'd accept the offer.
Luckily it all worked out. Although company policy was officially no work from home, my directly manager didn't care at all. And shortly after corona hit and they company ended up going 100% remote anyway.
I'm working on moving into a city. The plan is to get rid of the car and I think that'll make a huge improvement in health.
