Trav5··on I hate telephones
True, not that it matters, but my parents and my in laws have a decade or two on you... One lives in an area with poor cell service (surrounded by good service). My Dad doesn't carry, and when he does it's a feature phone that is off. Ha.

Of the residents I know for sure do or don't have a land line, they are the only ones.

I added all my numbers to this list a year or two ago and shortly after the spam calls started. Even on numbers that are not publicly used. (I have Google voice as my primary number and it calls my mobile number and a voip desk phone. Now all three get spam calls. I had them for years and the voip and mobile numbers were previously clean. )

Not OP, but same here. Born in the 80s and only our parents have landlines. Though my mobile and office phone receive far more spam calls than real calls. My Google voice line gets a hand full of robot voicemails per day. The "Should I answer?" app blocks a lot, but not all.
Trav5··on Entrepreneurs Aren’t a Special Breed – They’re Mostly Rich Kids
The answer is: > It's just not.

Because really, "Why isn't life fair?" is not a valid question. "Life" is unique. Why are two unique items not the same? Because unique and same are antonyms.

The 7yr old part is the context for my initial answer from my world view.

No matter how hard we try, it's impossible to make life fair for our twins. We do our best to treat them fairly, but while they are the same age, they are not the same. They are not the same physical size and they have different mental strengths and weaknesses. They are not evenly matched in all/many areas. That can make things feel unfair.

On the other hand, maybe it is fair, we just do not have enough context to do a proper measurement.

Ha, my 7yr old twins could explain that one to you. It's just not. You have to make the most of the gifts you are given.
Trav5··on How Australia's $49B internet network came to be ridiculed
What was the "whole FIOS debacle, and what happened when google started offering citywide Fibre"? Why the down votes? This sounds interesting, but I am not sure what to search for to learn more.
Trav5··on Walmart will soon have robots roaming the aisles in 50 stores
Low-controversy, but visible. Wich will introduce people to the idea gently. They can add features to the robots later with less resistance.

I am curious and not sure what to search for. What are you referring to? Link?
Trav5··on Walmart will soon have robots roaming the aisles in 50 stores
I can't find it if I'm looking at it. I long to photograph the shelf and then search it with OCR.

I have a friend who is happy to do the dull work. Smart guy, just content. At first I encouraged him to move up, then I began to understand that not everyone views the world the same way that I do.

sarcasm: It's a good thing https is becoming so prevalent to prevent man in the middle privacy concerns.
