Trav5··on To my students
I totally agree and have been thinking about this lately. My son has been been doing an incredible amount of engineering work on a fun side project manually including 3D design and printing, soldering etc. But he used Ai to program an arduino. I want him to understand the code but I'm trying to find the balance between the school classes, and all the other things needed for this project. He doesn't have time dive into it all right now. This project is giving him exposure but maybe the coding doesn't need to be done manually just yet.

Trav5··on The Deepfake Nudes Crisis in Schools Is Worse Than You Thought
I have kids, I would not be OK with anyone doing that to my kids. That is much different from being OK with the technology existing. Kids/people doing terrible things and kids/people allowing it to continue is the problem.

You can kill with a gun, a knife, a fork. Removing the tool does not change the situation of being around a person who wants to kill you.

We homeschool our kids and they have grown up to be respectful people.

For me, fogging my glasses means I have a leak and the air is being forced out gaps around my nose. Maybe under extreme weather conditions a perfect fit would still fog, but that's not what the op is talking about.
Trav5··on Amazon acknowledges issue of drivers urinating in bottles in apology
Toilets are available, but why use one if you have mastered pissing in a bottle? Sounds convenient to me :)

Note: I would not want to be forced to do that by my employer.

In addition to replacing single use plastic bags with heavy weight reusable bags. We can't reuse bags any more due to covid19. So now we are single using heavy weight reusable plastic bags.

Trav5··on Inviting employees back to the office – if you dare
I agree. Sit in your front yard and work from there if the weather is nice. You may find more people routinely walk by than you thought. Say hello. No need to drive to "your community". Especially now that more people are working from home.

My wife's family does the same thing, but with cash and checks and sometimes gift cards. Cracks me up.
Trav5··on Halmak – AI designed keyboard layout
I always thought splitting the keyboard and number pad so I could put the mouse in the middle would be a great optimization. Finally did it last year and ended up with tennis elbow. Turns out having my mouse pad a good distance away from the keyboard gives me a chance to stretch out my arm. That tiny bit of extra movement was crucial in not pushing my body over the limit of too much tiny movements resulting in elbow/arm pain. There are other contributors like using my phone too much in the evenings. But for sure, the keyboard change pushed me over the edge. I now view micro optimizations like this slightly differently. Maybe this keyboard layout would be great! But I sure would pay more attention and watch for negative side effects now.

That is an odd word. Seems "de-energized areas" would be better. De-energizaton is the action that was taken on the area.

I agree with the other commentor. This term indicates it was done on purpose. It describes the stare of the power line. I think it's better than blackout.

Trav5··on Survivors of rare wolf attack recount how animal tried to drag man from tent
It depends on why you are being attacked. From what I've read, Bear spray may not stop an attack. Especially if you are being seen as a food source for an animal in need.

Edit: Another google search just found a 2012 article [0] that is pro Bear spray to protect against Bears. (I did not read it all...) I'm more worried about Mountain Lions in my area. I do not carry bear spray or a gun. But I have thought about it quite a bit because I love being out there... The problem with Mountain Lions is that they are stealth hunters. So you you may not know they are there until it's too late. "Horizontal jumping capability from standing position is suggested anywhere from 6 to 12 m (20 to 40 ft)." [1]

Trav5··on Pentagon testing mass surveillance balloons across the US
> does it protect the constituion? Or is more likely they become a paramilitary wing of a corrupt government?

Good point, but you are lumping all gun owners into one mindset.

I could definitely see that happening, but it would not be all gun owners, just a percentage. And of the many gun owners I know, the percentage that would support any government and impose anything on others would be really low.
