Nice, but it needs continuous integration!

Something that runs in docker container on my home server. If my phone gets stolen, I have 1 hour old backup....

Thoeu388··on Oregon decriminalized hard drugs – early results aren’t encouraging
> the first of its kind in any state, are now coming into view

Lets hope Oregon will be shining beacon of inclusivity for all drug users, anywhere in US! We should not rush into any conslusions for at least 30 years!!!

So far it worked every time.

> mostly it weeds out the 90% of people whose email provider offers spam filters

Do you thing it weeds out 90% of politicians who talk total gibberish?

At end, it will enforce people who are in your social network. Some random celebrity will be ignored. Dude who lives 1 km from your location will be boosted.

Thoeu388··on Cut out everything that's not surprising (2019)
> Assuming this lesson is teaching you something you didn't know, that's the surprise.

There was some trick in calculus that makes it 1% more efficveint. Big deal but hardly surprise.

In some countries BBC tax is auto bundled into energy bills. You have to optout.

> X things government currently funds thanks to energy taxes

Government can do whatever it wants. That is not my problem, I do not care. But right now they can disconnect me from power grid to enforce their BS.

If I generate my own power grid, have my own sheriffs, my own protection...

Lets introduce proprietary service with a payment plan. That will simplify things LOL.

Just switch to Linux and you will never ever had to deal with this weird stuff agian!

> People only really learn when they’re surprised. If they’re not surprised, then what you told them just fits in with what they already know.

And under that is picture of quad-bike, where wheels fell off!

People do learn from mistakes. If you are "surprising", and loose all wheels, people will learn from that mistake! But they will never ever interact with you again! You will get on banlist as a moron and clown!

Real value is in boring, predictable and repeatable stuff that delivers. Like I spend 90 minutes on lesson, and it gives me 1.5% skill increase. I do it 100x times and I have something. You will never be able to "surprise" me and deliver value 100x times! Smart people do not eat junk food!

Energy loses on wires are like 10% per 1000 miles.

But energy bill from central government is bundled with many taxes (like 50%). For example:

- CO2 emission tax

- BBC license (or local equivalent), like paying CNN every year...

- subsidy tax for oil energy complex

- loyalty tax for pensioners

- subsidy tax for current war policy....

Thoeu388··on Why This AI Moment May Be the Real Deal
This is the Real Deal, but not in away you would imagine.

So far "nigerian email spam" was easy to recognize. Grammar mistakes, bad translation, very bad wording... But now every fringe group, can generate gigabytes of text and arguments that make sense! This is the end of debate, consensus and interactive communication, as we know it!

Similar moment was in Africa in 1960, after they got AK45 and other cheap weapons. It was easy to dominate Congo River Basin with a few Maxim machine guns mounted on boats, when opponents had only spears. But when every tiny village gets comparable fire power, there are no colonies!

If this is true, I wonder what it does with western corporate green agenda. There are huge money invested in it. Cheap superconductor would change a lot.

Similar situation was when EU banned incandescent light bulbs. Many manufactures (mainly western based) lobbied to have them banned, in favor of fluorescent light bulbs. However cheap LEDs were developed and eat their lunch.

If this superconductor is true, it means major power shift from central government, to local community! Distributed smart electric grids. Electric cars manufactured in a garage...

Thoeu388··on Tesla has a range inflation problem
They also lied about C02 emissions. My country manufactures 30% of electricity from coal. That is hardly zero emissions!

Do you have any proof, that they were not everywhere? On next sentence you literally admit, there is no evidence for such claims! Much of the archeological sites were not explored! Another white supremacist manufacturing evidence!

All land in US was used, there is no "higher land usage" now. Single hunter needs several hundreds of miles of territory! They fully used the land. Until they were genocided, and colonizers called their land "wilderness"!

There is Viking settlement somewhere in North America from 11th century.
Thoeu388··on Norwegian shipping company bans electric cars on board classic ferry route
Technically I was talking about lithium battery fire, not entire EV.

But not using water on electric devices, is one of first things we learn in safety training. Even fire extinguishers are not based on H2O, but specialized chemicals! I worked at UPS backup batteries.

Thoeu388··on Norwegian shipping company bans electric cars on board classic ferry route
That is Czechia, not Norway.
Thoeu388··on Norwegian shipping company bans electric cars on board classic ferry route
As a firefighter you should know putting out lithium battery fire is very different. It burns much hotter, releases toxic gas. You can not use water to put it out, lithium reacts with water and releases more toxic gas. Water is like gasoline. Battery also reignites randomly, even after fire was stopped.

To completely stop lithium battery fire, you need to submerge it in liquid oil for several weeks, to make sure that thing is completely dead. In country of 10 million people, we only have two tanks, that can deal with electric car fire.

Electric car can self ignite randomly, even after being parked for several hours or days. We are lucky Tesla has good QA, but that will change as other brands (even Chinese) will flood market. And there will be DIY battery repairs... Ferry in Norway could have cars from Bulgaria or Serbia onboard. Even homemade electric bike is electric vehicle!

I am absolutely for banning electric cars from underground garages, ferries, long tunnels, and so on.

Thoeu388··on San Francisco Isn’t Destined to Be the Next Detroit
Downtown SF should transform into something like Dubai. Leisure destination for tourism and rich residents. That means converting skyscrapers into residential units. Cleaning up streets and infrastructure. And changing the way income taxes work in SF.

Sadly I think taxes are the main reason, why it will fail to attract new rich residents. Even working remotely for two months in California is very problematic, it triggers are sort of complex tax implications.

LOL, love the tone policing. Do you realise some people actually lived under socialism? I am from East Europe.

Thoeu388··on Why South Africa Is on the Brink of Chaos
Yet another example how collectivism and socialism works. In decade or so, they will start killing farmers for "hiding" and "price gauging" food.
Thoeu388··on Why Host in Kosovo?
Kosovo also has very cheap electricity from coal. One time it was bitcoin mining hub.

I would be worried about reliability. It is probably semi residential optical line.

Thoeu388··on Time is running out on the Climate Clock
> The world has less than six years left to hit crucial global climate goals, according to the clock.

> Last year was even a record-high year for energy-related CO2 emissions.

> Energy infrastructure and structural change is not something that you do in a couple of months. It’s something that needs years,”

So we only have six years. CO2 production is rising. Key players are not on board. And even if everyone would be aligned politically, we will never manage to make technical changes on time!

It is like cars emission car regulation in EU. New cars are very energy efficient and have low emission. But too expensive so nobody buys them. Average vehicle age is 15 years (in Czechia) and it really stinks!

Perhaps we need better and more realistic plan, that would actually work!

Thoeu388··on Why Businesses Can’t Stop Asking for Tips
Do you have some source that universal health care would reduce costs? I think it would be just extra tax, and medical expenses would just increase proportionally, similar way as with student loans.

My country has nationalised healthcare, yet you still have to pay for private doctors. There are no state dentists or pediatricians. And waiting list for surgery is months or years.
