I tried to convince my son to try the spotify premium which is currently 3 months free trial.
He said he does not need another service on top of YouTube premium and Apple Music even if it’s free.
He’s not wrong.
I’m not sure how a music only service can survive on its own- I often switch between videoclips, songs, podcasts with video or not, all on YouTube. Another app/service for just some of these things is not convenient.
Definitely not a good idea to store all eggs in one basket. I’d use a third party secrets manager with a master password that can be remembered and some backup way to recover MFA - for example a family phone number
Why so shallow? Don’t care for this particular feature, maybe but the broader fight is about ownership and control of the things you paid for.
Sideloading is going to be nice for programmers as it will have to allow for more flexibility in what apps are allowed to execute
Super shallow and confusing article.
One of the counter arguments for savings account presented in the article is that it’s “risky” because deposits over 250k are not insured.
As we have seen with SVB all deposit holders were bailed out even above that limit and in case of Apple account, the entire Goldman Sachs would have to go bankrupt for a similar situation.
I’m curious to see what startups will emerge that will make it more worthwhile (risk/reward) to invest than a stable 4% every year.
I think on the broader stock market some staple stocks like food and oil companies are probably going to outperform the savings rate but not without risk.
Even in the TASS article it generally mentions an accounting write down. I bet some entrepreneurial Russian now has hundreds of unlicensed routers and cables
This, just like many other takes, confirms that there will be a short term boom in applying AI to everything. If you are in your 30s or 40s and surf this wave correctly, this may very well be the last job you will ever do.
So my plan is to learn how to plug GPT to excel, databases etc and provide AI for the smaller companies that can’t integrate AI like Salesforce and big companies like Azure Professional Services will not find them profitable enough to deal with.
Just wanted to mention that SuperPi - the benchmark that is very widely used for at least a decade for measuring PC / CPU single threaded performance uses the same algorithm so not really obscure.
That said, multi threaded algorithms make more sense for modern multi core computer architectures, something like this for example:
yes, except all the other religions, priests, oracles, pharaohs before him.
And his religion was based on on an interpretation of Judaism which was a thousand years old religion at a time,
Other than that you're spot on ;)
How have people found the learning curve and debugging?
My son did a game with it, but once we started trying custom stuff it wasn’t clear where the code for some things was - some things were in the scene some in the shapes etc.
I.e. it’s crazy easy to start with but gets a lot harder as you go?
Try Pocket Casts too, much better for makingsure your regular Podcasts are downloaded before things go offline.
I tried switching to Apple Podcasts and I found out the hard way that it didnt download my episodes before a 10 hour flight.
If we accept that this is the default state of the Internet (insecure) then I think it is a correct assumption and forces everyone to think twice before exposing anything to the Internet by default. Here the default Docker behaviour was very much at fault but also the assumption that a Linux level firewall is good for Docker. We have docker deployments that are completely hidden behind NAT in AWS and such things are a non issue.
The long notice period, among other things attenuates hiring sprees like we have seen this summer and the firings that followed in the winter.
It requires for the ceo and hiring managers to think a little longer term than this quarter.
