I’m currently in the midst of a fight with incurable cancer. There is a hope that they can shrink the numerous tumors and affected lymph nodes with chemo and I will have a risky surgeries shot at being cured. According to the very pessimistic internet my type of cancer across ages 8-80 means I have 2 years to live on average.
Funny thing is a few years ago I was a contractor and was billing up to 80 hours per week. I missed a lot of family interaction doing this and I now regret working so long.
So my point in all of this is health is literal wealth. And aside from needing to address your mental health (parents dying is not something you should just stuff down). It sounds like you are generally healthy but going through something. It may be tough to get through this phase of your life but if you do I’m pretty sure you will be happy you did.
Anyway, their goal is to move into new business verticals and not really fix the product. They are actually trying to move into the trading and risk management arena in which I work. So far they have one major client that I'm aware of and they are struggling to make it work.
As someone who also would not like to meet his demise by an errant vehicle, I think I would rather see a bunch of safety tech designed to not hit pedestrians in the first place would be ideal. Auto stop seems to be getting pretty good and while you could never eliminate vehicle to pedestrian crashes(suicide by car is likely impossible to protect against in many scenarios) But I hope we can stop making all the cars look like a shin destroying tear drop. :)
But seriously, I wrote a post about my youtube account getting banned and without telling me what caused it just shut down my request for review. Sounds like in all of these companies you can either have a false positive AI flag you, someone decide they dont like you online and report you for something that isnt necessarily true/the case, and then you have some tech workers who either dont care enough to really fix problems or enjoying their fiefdoms and the power they wield at strangers.
1) you can’t please everyone 2) if I put in the best effort towards the finished product that I really could see that the song was simply a creative journey I went on and it may not be for everyone but it was the best I could do with that idea. 3) acknowledgment of “The Muse”. Sometimes it’s there and things just flow out like magic. It feels like you’re a vessel of the universe. That is what makes music making fun and rewarding. The end product is usually better when this is happening but not always. Sometimes, though, you have to grind out a song and every step is hard and unnatural feeling. These sorts of projects can also end up great and that too is rewarding. 4) I’ve said this on hacker news before but it bears repeating- as long as you are putting in your best effort don’t make your music so precious. It’s just a song. Non musicians will either like it or not and not really care about how you crafted the song. They don’t care that you spent 30 grand to buy a vintage Jupiter-8 for all the keyboard parts. Use the gear you have that inspires you. Make music often and finish everything you start before starting something else. Forcing yourself to finish creates a habit of focus.
Ableton, while it is my main daw and by far my favorite, is pretty CPU heavy as of Version 11.(10 was not quite as bad) The others are more or less similar in performance in terms of track count and latency. Ableton is completely usable but I usually start having to freeze tracks as the track count hits ~24ish depending on what plugins Im using.
With Logic, I can usually get closer to 2x that amount, but I should probably do a more apples to apples comparison.
I do have my eyes on the Mac Studio as my next Audio computer, but Im hoping to stretch my iMac Pros lifespan closer to the 10 year mark if I can...
Elektron seems to get close to perfect drum machines but never quite hits the mark for me. I know, who am I and there is plenty of choice and all that.
In the meantime I am patiently waiting for my Rossum SP-1200 reissue.
