Additionally, your linked graph doesn't actually contain any context or resources that could be used to verify it. It is in fact an uncredited photo from [0] which was refuted in the children of a few other comments[1,2] that were available at the time of your post

Edit: I just realized you probably meant bubbles under the photo, not the left/right buttons
Everything sent over the wire to their apis is encrypted, but using an easily reversible fashion. The encryption key is a combination of a static salt and the user's session id. The session id is also sent to the api as an http header, so it's pretty easy to decrypt that anyway.

So that would kind of defeat the purpose of the "friends" stream entirely.
