L0in··on Disaster planning for regular folks (2015)
Reading the advice on psychological-resilience section, it also makes a good guide what to do during a mental health episode. i haven't thought of that.
L0in··on Treating anxiety as a bug in legacy code (engineering approach)
Can you share your findings?
L0in··on iPhone dumbphone
I tried LeechBlock and others but even when i enable the most extreme options, i just press right click and remove extension. Bypassing everything.
L0in··on UK government states that 'safety' act is about influence over public discourse
> demonstrations and other more disruptive forms of protest come after the democratic options have been exhausted

Are they though?

L0in··on UK government states that 'safety' act is about influence over public discourse
Anything involved with the electoral process is doomed to fail. The system is designed that way to squash the few voices that want change. It needs uprooting not band-aid.
L0in··on UK government states that 'safety' act is about influence over public discourse
They work. But they don't work if your objective is to replace a political party with another one... The problem is the system itself. It needs uprooting.

To quote someone: "You give us rights, only because we gave you riots"

L0in··on Ask HN: Does the Anarchist's Cookbook still have any practical uses?
It never had.
L0in··on Ask HN: What websites that were sold/abandoned/don't work anymore do you miss?

L0in··on Ask HN: How do you read and follow the discussions on big threads?
That's what i ended up doing after i wrote the post. I was reading every parent comment as something different on the same topic and when i finished or wasn't interesting to me i minimized it the [-] button.
L0in··on Ask HN: How to be productive without making lists?
Excellent answer!
L0in··on Let's Block It
I agree unless there are specific content from specific people that are only posted there and there's no alternative.
L0in··on Let's Block It
interesting! didn't notice it. Wouldn't make more sense to have more rules about facebook/meta 'since they are evil?'
L0in··on Let's Block It
Nice too! Does anyone have any working rules for removing 'suggested post' and 'sponsored posts' on Facebook? The current ones i already have stopped working few weeks ago.
L0in··on Show HN: Weeks of Your Life
I think the default was set 04/04/1997 by the creator.
L0in··on Tell HN: Google says “AdBlock for YouTube” contains malware
Use ublock origin. I'm certain that a) it's not a malware if you download it from the official source and b) it's very powerful.

Either your extension is indeed malicious or YouTube started playing dirty.

L0in··on Ask HN: What's the most minimal way to setup a shop on personal website?
Care to explain?
L0in··on Ask HN: Is there a news source you read everyday? If so, what is it?
I didn't know the original source nor this website. I wonder why doesn't services like this get shared/advertised more...
L0in··on Ask HN: Is there a news source you read everyday? If so, what is it?
Didn't know about it. Seem nice.
L0in··on Ask HN: How to learn work ethics and discipline as an adult?
> Be in a situation if you mess up, you'll get severe negative reactions from others.

I agree with seeking a position of responsibility, and be accountable, but i disagree with the above point. Specifically with the severe part. I think two of the most important lessons are to learn from your mistakes (accepting that you will fail sometimes), and when you fail/make a mistake take the responsibility.

Having severe reactions from others for when you make a mistake (I.e a beat down and not constructive critism) is a recipe for disaster.

L0in··on Ask HN: Any app or tricks to subscribe and read all newsletters at one place?

L0in··on On keeping sketchbooks
As i said on another comment: I tried to keep a physical notebook/common-place book, several times, but after a while i just stopped. I like handwriting but since i started using obsidian i don't believe i will return. I'm thinking perhaps of using papers as first draft or impromptu writing, and then final drafts will be stored or transferred to Obsidian.

I was exactly the same. It really helped me during some of my darkest teenage years, but after few years, it just stopped. Sometimes i really missed it because i liked a lot the arguments we had. It was like someone smacked my head during various times and told me to stop with the non-senses.
L0in··on Laniakea Books: Public domain books for everyone
Ναι (translation:yes)
L0in··on Ask HN: What’s your favorite efficiency hack that people can implement in a day?

L0in··on Amazon to close Book Depository online shop
NOOO. C'MON... WTF AMAZON
L0in··on Tell HN: I was offline the whole weekend
I'm planning to do something similar but for the whole week. Remove internet access from my home (wired and mobile). Have an outside office to work (i.e libraries, coffee shops, etc) and check my messages/texts whenever i go outside/to campus and have internet access.

Granted, i'm in university and probably that's the main reason i can afford to do this. I hope that once i get used to the "new normal" my real interests will start to emerge. Build my attention and actually use my time wisely and with purpose.

L0in··on Tell HN: I was offline the whole weekend
You say it like it's a bad thing. 90% off "things" we worry will miss are frivolous at best.
