Iuz··on Socrates vs. the Written Word (2011)
Socrates had a point.
Iuz··on How GPT‑5.6 Sol helps run quantum computing experiments
Every time I open one of the multiple daily posts about Anthropic or OpenAI and read the comments, I get this weird feeling.

Astroturfing is obviously common in political spaces, whether to normalize certain views, manufacture consensus, or shift public opinion. It seems to me that HN would be a prime target for tech companies to do the same thing, and lately I can't shake the impression that there's a lot of it going on here.

This site might be dying.

Iuz··on A note on subscription prices from LWN
Are there more things like LWN for other fields/subjects? A math LWN of sorts, for example? I would happily pay for it too if it follows this model.
Iuz··on Show HN: An 8-bit live gamecast for baseball
Super cool! I used https://github.com/paaatrick/playball a few times to follow games, looking forward for updates.
Iuz··on Meta launches Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp subscriptions
I'm thinking about it, but WhatsApp has a real hold on the Brazilian population. Removing it would mean losing the primary way my family and many people I know communicate. It’s ubiquitous here, sadly.
Iuz··on The Rise of the Em-Dash in Hacker News Comments
He uses it a lot, so it didn’t take long for me to notice that the dash was longer than usual. At that point, it felt less like a font quirk and more like a deliberate stylistic choice. I also recall that one of the translators mentioned his use of dashes.
Iuz··on The Rise of the Em-Dash in Hacker News Comments
I don't comment much but I have read everything that Friedrich Nietzsche wrote, and because of him, have always used em-dashes on my writing. I think I even saw some memes in circles that discuss his work when people started realizing GPT used them a lot...
Iuz··on Miscellanea: The War in Iran
> That said, this post is going to be unavoidably ‘political,’ because as a citizen of the United States, commenting on the war means making a statement about the President who unilaterally and illegally launched it without much public debate and without consulting Congress. And this war is dumb as hell.

Proceeds to not mention the Epstein files at all. No comment here mentions it either.

All that mess and all those deep connections that were unraveling... I’m not a US citizen, but has that already been forgotten? Do people not consider that they might be relevant in some way to this situation? Or is raising that possibility now generally viewed as a conspiracy theory?

Iuz··on Python 3.14 is here. How fast is it?
Is fold comment a option based on karma or something? I loved the most voted post here on how Miguel helped the guy but, it is unrelated and for the first time I guess I realized there is no fold so I can go to people actually talking about the article...

Iuz··on Stop Using Discord
They won't stop using it. It's simple as that. Should'nt we be doing something to scrape discord servers, push information to a acessible place instead of this? Is that doable?
Iuz··on Virtual Pinhead
I've been wanting to do this since forever, pinball arcade on mobile was my introduction to the real world of pinball after many years of playing space cadet on windows XP. Loved reading your post, will check for the next parts and hopefully this time I start my own too.
Iuz··on 20 years ago Far Cry was released
Just reading the title unlocked memories for me. Far cry came out in my life at the peak of local competitive counter strike, 1.6 at the time... CS was everything to me at that point and I hated the people coming to the lan house to play far cry instead of being on the cs servers... I remember it looking great tho I never played it.
Iuz··on Ask HN: What books have you found understandable during serious depression?
Nietzsche.
Iuz··on Bram Moolenaar has died
Quite possibly my favorite software. Rest in peace.
Iuz··on Exterminate your desk: How to remove your mouse
I have been using keynav (https://github.com/jordansissel/keynav) for convenience for a while now, but still pick the mouse up for selecting text outside of the terminal since dragging is bugged.
Iuz··on Pelé has died
As a brazilian football fanatic, who grew with my dad and uncle who are equally fanatics, the "greatest of all time" or "that I have seen" conversation has happened my entire life. For that reason, Pelé is one the human beings I most talked about. It is also surely the football player who stopped before I was even born that I most watched, from entire games I was able to find to movies to clips... just so I could have a better argument at the table with the grown ups... Sad day, RIP.

Iuz··on Ask HN: What's the most life-changing blog post you've ever read?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8055HIDm1A

Learned a lot from this fighting game community creator, Core-A gaming, video about community, and even tho I can't say it changed my life, it did change the way I see a couple of things forever.

Iuz··on Teach Yourself Computer Science
Does anyone have a github 'awesome' type of page with aggregated teach yourselfs? I would love to have it for other subjects.
Iuz··on Upping the Ante: Top Poker Pros Face Off vs. Artificial Intelligence
Doug Polk, a pro that was on the first challenge just talked about this on his channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz9FJfe2YGE
Iuz··on DomIRC – An IRC network for all domain name owners and their communities
#startups on freenode is great.
Iuz··on Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth 109 controversy
Just as a clarification: The developer realeased a patch on the 109 hour.
Iuz··on Multiple Vulnerabilities in Pocket
Is it ironic that I saved the article on pocket?
