DGCA··on Why I don’t use CSS preprocessors
I'm very excited for this to be widely supported. Right now, though, support is totally lacking in IE and Edge.
DGCA··on Why I don’t use CSS preprocessors
Is your project small enough that variables don't benefit you? Okay, don't use CSS preprocessors.
DGCA··on Hackathon Be Gone
At my previous company, we had a hackathon where the theme was, more or less, bringing the company more together through technology. ~12 of us made 3 separate teams, came up with ideas, and worked like 12 hours on a Saturday hoping to be declared the winner.

When all was said and done, the judges—all non technical—took about 30 minutes to decide that it was a 3-way tie. If you're going to make something a competition, just pick a winner.

DGCA··on Apple Pay
It sounds like they both definitely work with your standard contactless card reader. My worry is that Apple will have an Apple only reader as well. I'm not saying that I think they will, but I wouldn't be surprised, either.
DGCA··on Apple Pay
I really hope this doesn't end up fragmenting the NFC payments space. Only Apple Pay is accepted in one place, and only Google Wallet is accepted in another. Both of these technologies work with contactless card readers, let's just stick with that.

DGCA··on Show HN: Chrome extension that hides Medium.com articles on HN and DN
That's definitely one of the target audiences :)
DGCA··on Show HN: Chrome extension that hides Medium.com articles on HN and DN
I don't. That'd be a hell of a competitive strategy, though.
DGCA··on Show HN: Chrome extension that hides Medium.com articles on HN and DN
Some people like to visit Medium directly, some people try to avoid Medium altogether. This is for them.
DGCA··on Show HN: Chrome extension that hides Medium.com articles on HN and DN
Not at all, there's a ton of good content on Medium. This was just a little project, not some commentary on Medium as a platform.
DGCA··on Show HN: Chrome extension that hides Medium.com articles on HN and DN
Someone requested it on DN because they prefer to visit Medium directly. I made it pretty much because I could. To be honest, I have it installed but keep it off.
DGCA··on Show HN: Chrome extension that hides Medium.com articles on HN and DN
I really like being able to turn it on/off just by clicking the icon. Also, Chrome. You're right, though, it'd make a good GreaseMonkey script.
DGCA··on Show HN: Chrome extension that hides Medium.com articles on HN and DN
It'd be pretty easy to mod this to do that. I can't tell if you're being snarky but I could actually do that if you really want me to. I could also change the alert to read "# dreams were crushed."

DGCA··on Google Recently Made A Silent Shift To A New Search Algorithm, “Hummingbird”
Do you have any guesses as to why?
DGCA··on This is what the “Silicon Valley bubble” means
It's a valid use but, given the context, it may have been click-bait. I've heard the term 'culture bubble' before, and I think that would have been more appropriate, especially when the concept of an economic bubble around Silicon Valley is already being talked about.
DGCA··on This is what the “Silicon Valley bubble” means
Misleading headline, to start with (you say bubble, we hear overvalued asset or market). Past that, the post starts with a hyperbole. There's no way that guy was being serious, and if he was he should've been disregarded. I can relate to the idea of being detached from most people, living in Chicago, but that's how it is in big cities or tech havens. There's just more stuff available where a lot of money trades hands, that's market opportunity.

DGCA··on Ouya’s $99 Android-based video game console finally hits store shelves
Technically, it's always approaching, and 'fast' is subjective.
DGCA··on Snapchat Closes $60 Million Round Led by IVP and Now Worth $800 Million
I don't see it, man. We build awesome sites and apps at my shop, and they show their value within days of deployment, yet clients will shudder at anything above 150k. Don't get me wrong, I love what Snapchat is doing, and I wish them the best, but I don't understand the numbers.

Does anyone have insight into where these very high numbers come from/why they reach these levels?

DGCA··on The tiny Instagram projector
That's not a tiny Instagram projector, that's just a tiny projector.
DGCA··on Why do users click randomly and rapidly when an application hangs?
That may not be the best thing to do. http://youarenotsosmart.com/2010/08/11/catharsis/
DGCA··on Why shopping on mobile is broken
Swipe one way to like, the other to dislike? I do not like that. I'm used to navigating forward and back using those gestures.

Also, and I know I'm being nitpicky, but there's an empty button on the top right of your mockup.

DGCA··on Facebook Home
Shameless plug, eh? I don't think your product really showcases how most Facebook photos are poor quality since you pull news images as well. I know most of the pictures in my feed are some that I don't give two cares about.

Cool concept, by the way!

DGCA··on Our 1-year project: MercuryPuzzle. What do you think?
In the assessment, 'help' and 'next' should be farther apart, different colors, maybe in different places, and definitely bigger.

EDIT: And I get really turned off when I have to spam my friends with requests, so thanks for giving me the option not to.

EDIT2: This assessment is painfully long.

DGCA··on Chrome World Wide Maze
This is not new. As an Android user and Chrome user, it's very convenient.
DGCA··on Obama endorses required high school coding classes
Don't forget spouses.
DGCA··on [dead]
If you want to be unique, go for it. I, personally, don't find it that appealing but I can see the appeal. I don't recommend you wear it to an interview but if you want to stand out, I don't think many people have seen it.

If you'd like a 'different' knot, this one interests me as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YA-n2xkYX6s

I'll stick to the double windsor, but that's just what I'm into.
