2. From a sartorial standpoint, no one should wear the Eldredge knot, ever. From Reddit:
"I understand that a lot of people think it looks cool, and it'll attract a lot of attention, but not in a good way. You won't be that guy who's really well dressed, you'll be the guy with the funny tie knot."
A windsor / double-windsor / pratt / four-in-hand are perfectly acceptable tie-knots, depending on the tie.
From that icon of male fashion - James Bond never trusted a man who boasted a Windsor Knot; "It was tied with a Windsor knot. Bond mistrusted anyone who tied his tie with a Windsor knot. It showed too much vanity. It was often the mark of a cad." -From Russia With Love
Replace Windsor with basically any knot other than the four-in-hand, and the statement still rings true.
If you're trying to "disrupt" tie knots, go for it, but most people will think you look silly.
I have dressed up just about every Friday (fancy Friday) for the last few years and enjoy it a lot, even if it is a ridiculous hipster affectation.
If you'd like a 'different' knot, this one interests me as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YA-n2xkYX6s
I'll stick to the double windsor, but that's just what I'm into.
A navy suit with a white shirt and a navy tie is suave enough.
