Agree, the author missed the sarcasm in the post she was replying to.

I think it is a valid use of the word "bubble." Think "search bubble," not "housing bubble."

I'm new to HN, but I've seen this even in folks over 25 in the bay area. Basically, most tech people here seem to be disconnected from the rest of the world.

Then of course, there are also folks who came in from other states/countries and have a completely different perspective on life.

It's basically everyone: we all have a tendency to take certain pieces of knowledge and experiences for granted and universalize them. Someone else might be shocked that someone doesn't know how to ride a bike, or how to change a car's oil, or has never ran a ten minute mile, or has never milked a cow, or doesn't speak a second language fluently, even though it's very easy how to see any of those might be considered a very fundamental, basic human experience.

When I went home last, I met up with a friend who had never eaten Mexican food. Which is just nuts, right? But I've never shot a gun, which she finds equally absurd.
