23andwalnut··on The Gov.uk Design System is now live
Which aspects of this one do you prefer over USWDS?
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Basic UI Components for Tailwind CSS
No demo link?
23andwalnut··on Isobuild – Interactive isometric design tool
This is awesome. I don't have any experience with other isometric design tools, but this one is intuitive and easy to use. A demo video would be cool as one comment suggested.
23andwalnut··on Travelling with 24” Monitors
I also tried a 55" UHD and found it too big. I scaled down to a 49" on a rolling tv stand and it's perfect for me. I have some distance between myself and the screen though. ~6"

I really wish there was a way for me to travel with this setup :/

23andwalnut··on Do Tasks Quickly and Imperfectly
I enjoyed this. A quick read and a message I needed to hear today. Thanks!
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Zepel, a Jira alternative for product teams
Not currently, but I can add it. Can you shoot me an email about it so we can discuss your use case? I want to make sure any changes I make work for you. duet [at] 23andwalnut.com
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Zepel, a Jira alternative for product teams
Duet can definitely do this. It's self hosted though- http://duetapp.com

Let me know what you think (I'm the developer)

23andwalnut··on Show HN: Zepel, a Jira alternative for product teams
Thanks! Yes, an API is extremely high on my priority list. Zapier as well. Let me know what kinds of endpoints/actions you'd need from the API so I can make sure they are included. What integrations would you like to see?
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Zepel, a Jira alternative for product teams
I built a self hosted alternative to trello, basecamp, etc - http://duetapp.com

I wonder if it's suitable for your use case? And if not, what I'd need to add for it to be something you'd use

23andwalnut··on Show HN: Code Line Daily
I like the concept. It would be cool if you could choose the language you were interested in, and receive daily updates. It would also be cool if the lines were a little more complex rather than just function names or css selectors
23andwalnut··on Ask HN: Looking for an Alternative to Jira
A self hosted option I developed - http://duetapp.com

Actively working on it now, so if there are any specific features you need, definitely let me know so I can add them

23andwalnut··on Show HN: A music delivery service built around the WebAudio API
Looks great! You've offered several simple descriptions in these comments that don't appear to be on the site. It would be good if you included some of this language on the landing page so the purpose is immediately obvious...
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Buttr – Creative, customizable site templates and assets
Navigating the site on desktop is really hard. There should really be a horizontal scrollbar because I accidentally keep clicking when I'm trying to scroll. Or just don't use horizontal scrolling on desktop, which would be my preference...

Besides the scrolling issue, it looks really good.

23andwalnut··on Show HN: Hello, CSS – A CSS template focused on readability
The <pre> blocks overflow the container on the fancy view (Chrome/Windows 10).

Other than that, looks great!

23andwalnut··on Show HN: Kyoko – Manage anxiety with a simple tool
The landing page really needs some indication of what this is and how it works. The about link does not provide much context at all...
23andwalnut··on Launch HN: The Buttermilk Company (YC S18) – Homemade Indian Food in 5 Minutes
Just curious, is the decision to keep everything vegan tied to the 5 minute requirement?
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Stop using sticky notes to remember stuff
The "see it in action" button really needs to be more prominent. Or the video itself should be the focus of the landing page rather than the Gumroad widget...
23andwalnut··on Asana’s Rise to a $900M Valuation
Curious about what ended up working for you? What project management app are you using now?
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Calendar with integrated timeline for fast navigation
Looks really well done. Have you considered a developer's license so people can build it into their apps?

How difficult would it be to make this work with google calendar?

23andwalnut··on Show HN: Online resume builder by Applicantio
Looks good. Very clean design. It took me a couple of seconds to see the menu at the top of the builder though (about, contact, experience, etc)
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Amazing Hunt – The coolest products you can actually buy
Looks good. How do you decide which products end up in the trending + hot lists?
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Smart CSS viewer tailored for Designers
It's well designed. It would be nice if the export functionality generated a css file with typography + colors.
23andwalnut··on Show HN: Notes. Simple flexible unix-y note taking
This looks incredible. Very excited to try it out.
23andwalnut··on Boards in Asana
You can do this in Duet (http://duetapp.com), but it's self-hosted. Pretty sure Flow also lets you switch back and forth between boards/lists. Have to imagine a bunch of other apps have it too.
23andwalnut··on Surface Book – It’s Easy to Switch from Mac to Surface
I think they are just pointing out the MBP has a lower screen resolution...they aren't comparing it to the 'lower screen'/touchbar. See here: http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs/

The main screen of the MBP does in fact have a resolution 227 pixels per inch

23andwalnut··on My Self-Hosted Life

  I never said that.
The implication in your original comment is quite clear, "why don't you let experts do what they do and you spend your time doing what you do?". So, you actually did say that...

But to suggest that everyone should do (or will do it, as some people are commenting here) it is bananas.
The comment you replied to didn't suggest that everyone should self host, it simply stated a preference. Your comment, however, was the exact opposite, and suggested people shouldn't self host "unless they do servers"
23andwalnut··on My Self-Hosted Life
He's saying his goal is controlling his data, not necessarily 100% uptime, so even if the site ends up going down, he still retained control of his data, and therefore did not fail on the metric that is actually important to him.
23andwalnut··on My Self-Hosted Life
Lots of people home school their kids, grow their own produce, and kill their own cows. One doesn't need to do everything themselves to want to do some things themselves. And if your premise is that one needs to be an expert, before doing anything on their own, then how would people learn? How do people become experts?
23andwalnut··on If your code accepts URIs as input, filter out “file://”
Disclosing it publicly before it's been fixed only increases the number.
23andwalnut··on Why I finally ditched Jira
I've been thinking about creating a dev focused version of Duet (http://duetapp.com) for a while. Any current Jira users have time to help me figure out what I should add/change to make it a good Jira alternative? I'm a solo developer, so sometimes it's hard to get insight into how teams work on dev projects and some outside input could be very valuable...
