100100010001··on ‘Silicon Valley,’ S6E2 – a billion dollars to violate your principles
Troy and Abed in the movie!
100100010001··on Police Owe Nothing to Man Whose Home They Blew Up, Appeals Court Says
Wouldn’t law enforcement getting away with crimes cause fear? It seems like it would show they are above the law and can act like bullies without repercussions.

Admitting a mistake and trying to make it right will gain trust.

100100010001··on Police Owe Nothing to Man Whose Home They Blew Up, Appeals Court Says
I wouldn’t qualify using military grade equipment in Colorado for stealing two belts and a shirt justifiable.
100100010001··on The benefits of a more asynchronous workplace
I disagree with the “tapping on the shoulder isn’t a bad behavior”. It is counterproductive as illustrated by the linked cartoon.

100100010001··on Is Stack Overflow allowing ads to use fingerprinting to track users?
I think devices need better security. Anything that JavaScript can access should be set to default values where they all equal null. Only once a user allows a certain website to access certain data will that data become available to that website. If every browser did this along with the apis for cellphones then users can finally regain control of what is collected.
100100010001··on Silicon Valley is terrified of California’s privacy law
Your proof is that you “personally know a lot of people who know and insist on not opting out”? That’s anecdotal evidence at best (aka not proof).
100100010001··on Silicon Valley is terrified of California’s privacy law
If it is a fact then show me the proof.

Just because people use a service doesn’t mean they have read the terms and conditions. Therefore, your anecdote is just that.

100100010001··on Silicon Valley is terrified of California’s privacy law
No need! I’m not presenting a hypothetical survey’s results without evidence. The person I was responding to is, unless they actually have such a survey. I asked for it and no one answered. Therefore, until there is a time with supporting evidence, we can’t even qualify the opinion as a theory, let alone a fact.
100100010001··on Silicon Valley is terrified of California’s privacy law
Is this anecdotal or do you have empirical evidence?
100100010001··on Silicon Valley is terrified of California’s privacy law
This is your opinion, unless you actually did a survey of violating a citizens privacy by big tech. Have you?
100100010001··on Your Company Should Let You Work from Anywhere
Aside from physical communication, every other type is achievable through computers. Does that mean the only way to resolve a misunderstanding is through physical communication?
100100010001··on Tom Delonge’s UFO Research Center Is Making Politicians Demand Answers
An anti-gravity engine could be used to allow the use of quantum levitation to stabilize the craft in the earth’s magnetic field.
100100010001··on The Air Force Will Let Hackers Try to Hijack an Orbiting Satellite
Yea, I wouldn’t trust them. A person could make one small mistake on the application and then they are screwed. The Air Force can then force them to work for them or convict them of a crime. It seems like a way to coerce computer scientists to work on government projects.
100100010001··on United States Files Civil Lawsuit Against Edward Snowden
Does that mean every government agent that broke the law and spied on American citizens should be deported?
100100010001··on When Coding Is Criminal
If coders are liable for a consumers use of the product, will that put other industries producers in jeopardy of legal trouble?
100100010001··on Ask HN: Information to differentiate real/bot traffic?
There is a global function that just came out this year...

voightKampff();

100100010001··on Ask HN: Least Overwhelming Field of Programming?
Agreed. Web development seems more approachable and I think MySpace has a lot to do with that. Allowing users to post html and css on their profile was probably the best feature! I think it also made programming relatable to a lot of people who wouldn’t have tried it otherwise.
100100010001··on Man jailed for criticizing court system
This is ridiculous!!! Then again we have a legal system, not a justice system. The corrupt will continue bending laws to their advantage. The judge should be ashamed!
100100010001··on Tesla owners locked out of their cars after app stopped working
Any car that relies solely on wireless communication to start isn’t well thought out.
100100010001··on Tesla owners locked out of their cars after app stopped working
True, but there is still no physical way to turn the car on. Teslas rely on wireless communication to turn on. That seems like a poor design to me.
100100010001··on The Plan to Use Fitbit Data to Stop Mass Shootings Is Terrifying
1. That is your unthoughtful opinion not a fact. The intended purpose of a gun is destruction. That is a fact.

2. Did you notice you had to change the parameters? I was talking about the general purpose, but you didn’t like what I said and you couldn’t contradict it. So you changed the argument, but that failed too.

100100010001··on The Plan to Use Fitbit Data to Stop Mass Shootings Is Terrifying
Cars have a purpose besides destruction. Guns don’t, and give individuals unproportionate power.
100100010001··on Ask HN: Programmers, what is your “scotch file”?
Or the idea presented by Welch isn’t as common as the op thinks?
100100010001··on Why so many Chinese students can’t understand the Hong Kong protests
Fair enough. I’m sorry. I’ve been pretty upset about the situation in the USA, and my last few post were definitely based on emotion rather than having a serious discussion. This isn’t a justification for the actions just an explanation of the flaws I have that led to them. I fell prey to the wizard’s third rule... passion rules reason.
100100010001··on Why so many Chinese students can’t understand the Hong Kong protests
I’ve got five the majority are from the USA.
100100010001··on Why so many Chinese students can’t understand the Hong Kong protests
Downvoting anonymously without justification seems cowardly.
100100010001··on DNA study deepens mystery of lake full of skeletons
That doesn’t change anything. The 10th century is still 1019 years before this year. Just like 20th century fox means 1901-2000. I get what you are trying to say, but language is used to convey ideas. If the words you use to convey your idea doesn’t match up to what the rest of the world thinks, then it is you who is wrong not the rest of the world. To argue against it is to argue against modern conventions. Example: What year is it?

If you give any other answer than 2019 then you are wrong.

Same thing for... when was the 10th century?

Another great example is the imperial system. Just because the USA uses miles doesn’t mean they are right when writing down their units in miles. Every true scientist knows it should be kilometers and makes fun of the individual who used miles. Why? Because the majority of Earth uses kilometers not miles.

100100010001··on Why so many Chinese students can’t understand the Hong Kong protests
Why the down votes? Which statement is false?
100100010001··on Police can get your Ring doorbell footage without a warrant
Is anyone actually surprised? A person can’t trust any cloud service since it is under one entity! Google, amazon, and dropbox seem to have no qualms with the government’s big brother policy.
100100010001··on DNA study deepens mystery of lake full of skeletons
No... the 10th century was 901-1000. A thousand years after means > 2000. So it happened in the past 19 years.
