In development High-NA EUV can do 2nm logic, possibly 1nm with double patterning? There's not a lot more room at the bottom after that, given silicon crystal atom distance of .3nm
Would it be possible to have fast stack machine CPUs nowadays? (let's say, competing with x64 cpu's) or is there some inherent benefit to register machines?
No, he managed to combine three traditionally uncool things, namely 8 bit computing, accordions and ragtime music, resulting in an underflow of uncoolness which is extremely cool.
How can you tell entangled particles from non-entangled ones? I saw another article today about keeping quantum systems entangled for a long time by firing lasers in a Fibonacci pattern, but what allows them to see whether its still entangled?
Let me tell you about SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework). If your company adapts this monstrosity you'll have two day long PI-planning meetings with many many people (90+ in my case) every quarter.
Group meetings, the next exponent of that is SAFe (so called Scaled Agile Framework) where you'll see 2-day-long meetings with 80+ people. I am not a fan.
35-ish years of coding here, but the professional part of it is being thoroughly ruined by things like SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework). You always were a cog in a machine, but SAFe actually makes you be aware of it, all the time.
Something that worked for me: playing low volume noise on a stereo in the bedroom. Even barely audible noise would suppress the beeps and drone of my tinnitus.
It's more likely a Boltzmann brain would be a microscopic quantum computer, dreaming up planets and people and you to get over the boredom of being alive for a picosecond.
So it seems this allows us to understand when phase transitions occur, I wonder if this has applications in improving high temperature superconductors.
A Møøse once bit my sister ... No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies
Sean Carrol addressed this in his royal institution lecture (a brief history of quantum mechanics, 37m30s). As far as I understood those universes aren't created, you're just selecting a slice of phase space of the (very big) number of possible universes. ( link: https://youtu.be/5hVmeOCJjOU?t=2247 )
EUV and higher energy photons are difficult beasts, I would put my money on electrons next, so perhaps the electron microscope companies hold the interesting patents there.
