some people call that a conspiracy theory, but looking back (how the attention to workers rights basically vanished and got replaced with other topics, and how the capitalist world got so much richer) it explains a lot of things very well.
I don’t see any github link, is this 21st century embrace, extend, extinguish ?
so the true next frontier might not be just raw intelligence but rather larger context window?
"tax fraud? a lot of people do it and it's just fine"
We know that the us government usually has private/custom versions of technology available to the general public, but much better.
you don't get to police how people talk or feel about other people, duh
the craziest thing is that this has to come from right-wight politicians. really gives you a sense of how much the left is f'd-up in 2026.
You can essentially live all your java life without ever interacting with Oracle.
if you started doing the same to, say, instagram content both meta and individual creators would sue you as well.
sites like archive.ph are in a similar bucket btw, and yet nobody's complaining (except websites seeing people evading their paywall). but at the end of the day it's not really fair to apply laws differentially on the basis of whose political ideas we like more.
Research is irrelevant, we have empirical evidence now: new generations can’t read and show overall lower cognitive abilities.
2. A well defined recommendation algorithm, with parameters can tune to fit my taste
3. Separate sections for discovering new content, to see content from people i follow and to see content from people i know irl
4. Possibly of completely reset the learning “the algorithm” has done about me
I used to come back from school and spend my day in front of the computer (crt screen and everything) but my screen time was much higher quality that modern day kids. Also, back in my day there was no moronic “no child left behind” kind of policy: if you needed to repeat a year of school, you just did. It felt harsh in the moment but looking back oh boy it was the correct thing to do.
However, in general i would not trust a product that is not open source (foss).
I do like what grafana has been doing for example, with licensing options at the two extremes: gpl/lgpl v3 on one side and proprietary hosted saas version on the other.
We run our own grafana/lgtm stack at work, we’re outgrowing it and we’re evaluating the saas offerings.
But then again, not criticising your work and product, you know better than me about it and about your business, just writing down my proverbial two cents.
Btw ggwp to dhh and omarchy’s team.
Ormarchy/arch is not my cup of tea but kudos to them for doing their own thing.
