However, your comment was about how you skipped through a post and made a snap judgement. This doesn't help anyone - nor does it make your comments relevant. The post was not about anyone's spelling or grammar and you were the only person out of the thousands who read it who had a problem.
As for judgement which no doubt you're spitting vitriol at your screen, it can be spelt either way: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judgement
I've worked on a variety of projects, small and huge. Lead the redesign of a major website among other things.
I never criticised people's grammar, purely where they come from.
My point is, it can be very hard to avoid all companies on ethics alone.
IBM - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_and_the_Holocaust#IBM_busin... Apple — FoxConn Disney - The allegations of Walt Disney's pedophillia. And so on.
And what does it matter if it doesn't look the same on every browser? It definitely doesn't change the experience.
Zynga are noticing the issues they're having and trying to create a few more lifeboats.
Start right, it's really no extra effort to use CSS over style anymore. It is in fact quicker.
The makes me think of the phrase 'go big or go home.' This is not a big enough departure from the last Digg to really warrant a whole rewrite and losing the original posts.
To be honest; it seems only a step away from traditional newspaper websites - which have the benefit of the zero-hour news feed. They need to inject yet more community back into this.
As someone who's spent a decent amount of time leading the redesign on a newspaper site - I remember putting far more innovation into a traditional newspaper site than this has.
But the Space bar for showing before/after doesn't work on Safari or Chrome.
While Matt is perfectly correct that when you pay for an app, you get the app you paid for. But there's a very well known unwritten suggestion that you'll get updates for 1-2 years. At which point probably they'll release a new version, and you'll pay the upgrade fee. It's how most software seems to work. So, people technically don't have the right to complain - there is a lot of sense in why people are upset. And there's no real explanation from the developers that buying their software wasn't going to lead down that route.
I think the biggest issue about the acquisition for me is the fact Sparrow bled the product dry a week ago by having a sale and then doing this. It seems underhanded.
And for the record, I also find it a shame that they've been acquired. I'm happy for them to be given big wads of cash, but in a selfish way I would have wished to seen them tackle more problems in their way - producing quality results. I have a bad feeling as we've seen again and again, we won't be seeing anything from Google with the calibre that they did with Sparrow.
(While I am anti-AdBlocking software, that is a conversation for another time.)
But the truth is, this is really self-entitled. There's huge iPhone updates on the go (iOS6 and hopefully iPhone 5 later this year), big MacBook Pro updates but that wasn't good enough. Nope, because they didn't cover Marco's chosen line of computers… they're playing a half-assed game.
Buying a computer is a 1:1 deal. You give money, they give computer (and support for a year.) That's it. That's the deal. There is no "we'll forever be in your debt" by Apple. Just because you want something, and you kick and stomp doesn't mean they should do it.
We also don't know why. There could have been a hardware issue holding them up, or a software. We've got no idea on this.
Apple are doing a pretty good job at the moment if you ask me.
Jessamyn was obviously uncomfortable, and that's when it should have stopped. Without question. I don't think her gender was a deciding factor in that, more so sensibilities.
I appreciate her pro-active stance too. Rather than complaining she tried to beat them at their own game, though I'm not sure it'd help her in the long run. I think it'd piss the rest off - but saying that, is there any way around it? They obviously have not given her the respect she asked for when she told them it was offending her.
They could have handled it a lot better. Bringing her employers into it? Etc.
It's a shame that he disappeared but that was 3 years ago. There are MANY an amazing talent in the industry.
Seriously though. Facebook is a for profit company. I don't really think thats wrong or even ambiguous?
