Whatever. I'll apply for the next cycle.
I got damn close, too. It would've been really easy to go through with it. I didn't go through with it, and I got help. I'm now actively making my life better each day. I am pursuing the direction I want to go in life, and I am happier than I've ever been. Have I had setbacks? Of course, I can't predict everything. Doesn't mean I'm going to abandon this. I know that this is the right direction for me, but it's not the default direction.
However, this may be the Portal 2 Episode 1 game mechanic.
I'd love to read this, but there does not appear to be a way to read the full article on an iPad.
I tried to buy some Def Leppard the other day. Couldn't find any.
It would be far easier for them to just implement a carrot. Make it fucking easy for me to pay for music that I can enjoy whenever I want to, on whatever device I like.
returns what you'd expect.
Apparently, the jpeg format allows this.
I was thinking more of "this will not steal my credit card" (unless you keep that info in your address book) type of malware. But, yes. I get your point.
It's simply an app that uploads your address book to a remote server. Up until recently, it was considered industry standard to do that.
The only thing this app does different is that the server then sends SMS messages to the numbers it uploads from your address book.
All this really is showing is that Apple should've made iOS from the beginning ask the user for permission before allowing an app to access the address book. After iOS 6, this app won't do anything.
Uh... no. The main reason no new nuclear power plants have been built in the US is because 3 mile island and chernobyl scared the shit out of people.
Both of those incidents were caused by people going outside the safety protocols. Nuclear power, just like anything else, is VERY dangerous if you ignore safety.
Forget which part of the law says that, but it's one of the things you learn about when studying for that test.
Was expecting a (written) post from the blip.tv folks on how to do hammock-driven development. Oh well.
You start the game, and have 2 minutes to create defenses. After that, it's a normal game of CTF.
I forget what it's called though.
Even if you deserve to be 'held back', you get what's called a 'social promotion'.
In 8th grade, there was this big project we (each student) had to do in order to 'pass' 8th grade. The teachers all told us that if we didn't do it, we'd fail 8th grade, but still go on to high school as a 'social promotion'.
I actually had several friends who decided to not do that project, because nothing bad would happen to them if they didn't do it.
Not everything on HN has to be about startups. (This isn't "Startup news"). HN just is about things that are interesting to hackers.
Seeing that technology is helping to bring a stolen device back to someone is interesting to hackers.
(for those of us who are under the legal drinking age and dislike coffee)
It's just telling the search engine to ignore the first X results, which still relies on the pagerank algorithm.
Searching without pagerank would be similar to using a search engine pre-google.
Several people here have already linked to midas.
Personally, I've done part of this to my dorm, and it's cool, but still not impressive considering all that and more was done some 7 years ago with midas.
