I think everybody already knows that you shouldn't trust anonymous, un-sourced information you read online, and I doubt simply reminding them of this would do much good. It's just really hard to constantly be vigilant. Even on this site, I've caught myself casually reading an article or comment and taking the claims at face-value, and then reading a response that actually does cite reputable sources showing it was complete bull-shit.

There are a few of these longer, explanatory comments in the code-base I currently work on, and while we do generally try to keep them up-to-date, personally I find they've become difficult to read. As the code evolves you have people trying to splice sentences into the middle of a paragraph, different people have different writing styles, some aren't native English speakers. Unless you're willing to rewrite the whole thing every time you make a non-trivial change it seems to end up a bit of a mess. As one co-worker put it "you need to read the code in order to understand the comments".

That doesn't seem obvious to me. I'd be more inclined to think anyone willing to pay to avoid ads likely isn't very receptive to advertising in the first place. If someone is so annoyed by ads, they're probably not going to be clicking on them, right?

I think this is particularly problematic because with other humans, we can at least develop a sense of what types of mistakes they tend to make and try to adjust our driving accordingly. Things like not driving in another person's blind-spot, etc. but also more subtle stuff. I feel like there a sort of hive-mind that develops amongst drivers and probably makes things safer than they would otherwise be.

I find I only use SELECTION if I'm going to paste whatever I copied immediately, but in those situations I do think it's a bit faster. If need to do anything else between copying and pasting I'll use CLIPBOARD instead.

NVIDIA definitely still ships 32-bit OpenGL libraries. They did drop 32-bit kernel support, maybe that's what you were thinking of?

Maybe if you have a download or some other long-running process that you don't want to interrupt? What I think would be useful is some way to manually use DPMS to actually power off the display. The only thing I'm aware of is using xset on Linux / X11.

Well, we genuinely do have a far better understanding of the natural world than the ancients. Many practical problems they faced have been effectively solved by technology, like food scarcity, communication, transportation etc. To me it seems more surprising that there hasn't been similar progress in our understanding of society and the human condition. We're still struggling with most of the same issues they were.
