Korea's biggest search engine(www.naver.com) is basically like this. they created a walled garden that gives you practically everything. These portal type sites disincentivize individual sites from creating contents, because the search engine directs the traffic into their own services(Q&A, blog, etc.).

yeonhoyoon··on S. Korean Banks Fall Victim to Biggest Cyber Attack in Two Years
We need to use IE for most banking/online shopping sites. So the market share of Windows/IE in Korea is higher than other parts of the world.

Most people have Windows/IE installed together with their preferred OS/browser, myself included.

For mobile banking the situation's a little bit better but it is cumbersome nonetheless.

I think the payment system in S. Korea has a lot of potential for disruption, but the current regulatory laws force the businesses to use ActiveX.

yeonhoyoon··on Why aren't we all using Japanese toilets?
These toilets are pretty common in Korea as well, but it's not recommended to use bidets in public toilets, because it can easily become contaminated with excrement, germs, etc.
yeonhoyoon··on The Waiting Place
For anyone interested in further development of the idea presented in the article, I recommend books 'Power of Now' and 'A New Earth' by Eckhart Tolle. Life changing books.
yeonhoyoon··on Infinite Gangnam Style
I'm a native speaker of Korean, and the song doesn't sound bizarre.
