yamilg··on Ask HN: If Social network is created today, what do you want to see?
allow me to pay, no more than $2.99/month. don't ever sell my data. don't act "smart" about what I may want to see. allow me to follow and only see content from profiles i follow. if you want content, allow some kind of monetization. something like a revenue share for people who actually invest in creating relevant content for the rest of the group. or a simple tipping system.
yamilg··on Ask HN: What was your "oh shit" moment with GenAI?
To your point, we would think that just because we gained access to a vast mass of knowledge via web archives (such as Wikipedia), people would have become smarter overall, that no person with access to this would choose not to acquire the knowledge at hand. But here we are, surrounded by people who choose to stay ignorant. So, I imagine the same will happen with AI. The vast majority of people will keep using their chatbots and never in their lives will they solve their problems with these tools beyond asking general questions for troubleshooting.
yamilg··on Ask HN: How can we solve the loneliness epidemic?
for $3000 you can cover a decent 100 people wedding in my country.
yamilg··on Ask HN: How can we solve the loneliness epidemic?
This! I agree 100%. How do you deal with the feeling of tiredness that comes after doing this for a while? You know, when you reach a ratio of 20:1 invitations sent versus received? When you inevitably start wanting reciprocity, or for someone else to take the initiative for a change?
yamilg··on Ask HN: What macOS apps/programs do you use daily and recommend?
I'm very happy with qBittorrent, in case you want to try something different.
yamilg··on Ask HN: Why are ISO standards so expensive?
Thank you for sharing this! For some reason I really enjoy reading standards documents.
yamilg··on Show HN: Launching Hoverboard – beautiful, responsive portfolios
Great product! I really like it. One thing, I would like to be able to show my real name instead of user name (in the title, at the top).

Keep it up!

yamilg··on This is ridiculous.
Lewis the site looks fuggly (90's style) besides I'm not sure if the people is still using that kind of services, if so, I think is actually decreasing...
yamilg··on Mozilla's BrowserQuest - Massively Multiplayer HTML5 Experiment
I did both but didn't get any additional achievement, what am I doing wrong?
yamilg··on Ask HN: My math foundation is weak, can HN recommend useful math resources?
Khan Academy (khanacademy.org) definitely!
yamilg··on Tell HN: I want to teach you web development. In 8 weeks. For free (sort of)
I'm not in the US, is there any way to take the deal?
yamilg··on Show HN: Weekend Project - Create Simple Android mockup
For the time being I suggest using ⌘ + ⇧ + 4

Same here, I was trying to drag all along, I guess that's the natural way we understand apps nowadays.

Great app anyways! keep it up, great work! ;)

yamilg··on Top Programming Fonts
I'm in love with Meslo https://github.com/andreberg/Meslo-Font works great both on my iTerm as well as in TextMate. What makes this font special is the L/M/S variations in the leading (line height). Give it a try, you won't regret!
yamilg··on Will the Next Zuckerberg Be a Designer, not a Hacker?
What makes you think good designers are not hackers and that Mark Zuckerberg is not also a designer?
yamilg··on Skype 5 for Mac
Ha: I happen to love the new Skype version
yamilg··on Color
For some reason that makes me feel uncomfortable, heres the thing: you can share picture with the friends you have around, let's say the people that's in the same room to get "different angles of the same event", if they're already with you, what's the point of disclosing my location with the app?
yamilg··on Color
I just tried the app and definitely didn't like it, it mandatory requires you to give away your location information otherwise you cannot use the app. That's not the way to go guys :S specially with the recent discussions about internet privacy...
yamilg··on Which programming book you just couldn’t stop reading from start to end?
