yAnonymous··on Security Researchers Publish Ryzen Flaws, Gave AMD 24 Hours Prior Notice
This is FUD. The original post was flagged, because the domain and website are far from trustworthy. Technically, the accusations seem to be more of a joke.

Hello, Intel?

yAnonymous··on CIA new nominee director Gina Haspel ran a torture site and destroyed evidence
Everybody knew Bush was a tool and there were little expectations.

Obama, on the other hand, was branded as the good guy. He did very little to deserve that though. People were blinded by his eloquence, but he was a huge disappointment as a president.

I mean, if the next president after you is a choice between Trump and Hillary Clinton, you definitely fucked up and set the standards low.

yAnonymous··on Severe Security Advisory on AMD Processors
Whois protection. Very trustworthy source... not.
yAnonymous··on Firefox 59 released
Same for the mobile version. It's unusable on single core devices.
yAnonymous··on Developer Survey Results
Not a multiple choice answer, for one.
yAnonymous··on Developer Survey Results
See this thread, for example.
yAnonymous··on Mozilla working on in-page popup blocker for Firefox
Shitty sites like Reddit hide the scrollbar until you manually click the button that makes the popup disappear, so automatically hiding the popups is going to break them.

I like it.

yAnonymous··on Tell HN: Slack decides to close down IRC and XMPP gateways
Do you need a ridiculously good memory and visualization skills for that? I can't imagine writing code without looking at it.
yAnonymous··on Facebook Really Is Spying on You, Just Not Through Your Phone's Mic
How much worse would being caught lying be compared to straight up admitting it? I'd say it's worth the risk for them.
yAnonymous··on Leaked Files Show How NSA Tracks Other Countries’ Hackers
“They started to become concerned about sitting on a box with our tools and there being other actors there that could steal or figure out what we were doing.”

Seeing as they had all their tools stolen, that must have worked out really well.

yAnonymous··on Dtube – A decentralized video platform using STEEM and IPFS
By avoiding a service, because it's used by people you don't agree with, you act exactly like those people. You're not one bit better than them.

By the way, you'll find that kind on Youtube and Facebook, too. I hope you avoid both of them. Best avoid Google all together, because they own Youtube and are guilty by association.

yAnonymous··on Dtube – A decentralized video platform using STEEM and IPFS
If Facebook doesn't care about enforcing copyright, why should such a small website?

That really seems like an argument that is made only to hurt startups.

yAnonymous··on Finding Pwned Passwords with 1Password
Where do I even start? I think it would be easier for you to tell me why you think phones are secure and then I tell you why you're wrong.
yAnonymous··on Why has CPU frequency ceased to grow? (2014)
>temperature

Using a proper thermal interface material in their CPUs would be a start...

When you can decrease the temps of Intel CPUs by 20°C with delidding, the heat argument seems quite constructed.

yAnonymous··on Flight Sim Company Embeds Malware to Steal Pirates’ Passwords
What happens when your key is simply stolen and posted online? They think that grants them the right to spy on all your passwords.

Where is the company, Flight Sim Labs Ltd., registered? It's difficult to find an address. They also removed info from their About page. From their posts it looks like they might be in the Netherlands.

Anyway, I'll contact the FBI and local authorities about this if I can find out what jurisdiction they're in and I hope others do the same. This crap is absolutely unacceptable.

yAnonymous··on Working remotely, 4 years in
>It's not always easy to work for a month from a Caribbean island while squeezing in scuba certifications

(ง'-')ง

yAnonymous··on Why I don't use my real photo when messaging with customers on my website
Just wondering, how do the support people feel about being represented by better looking avatars?

"Your real face is too ugly, sorry."

yAnonymous··on How bad is IPv4 address exhaustion?
"Sir, please type this into your browser to get to the router web interface: 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334. I repeat 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334."

"Server IP address could not be found."

5 minutes later...

"Now could you please tell me the IPs of all connected devices?"

Customer hangs up and cancels his subscription.

yAnonymous··on About the goodwill of people: 4,500 users and 0 donations
Donate 50k or I'll eat this rabbit?
yAnonymous··on About the goodwill of people: 4,500 users and 0 donations
The about starts with:

>This tool was created to solve my own problem.

You create a very simple tool for yourself that can do exactly one thing and expect people to pay for it? And 4500 site accesses is absolutely nothing, by the way.

The main problem here are your unrealistic expectations.

I contribute to OSS that is used by millions of people. Certainly I should be a millionaire? No, that's not how it works.

yAnonymous··on Slack is the opposite of organizational memory
>you need to be online all the time, and you need to answer / participate / chat instantly

No, you don't.

yAnonymous··on Is developer compensation becoming bimodal?
Where's all the great Indian, Chinese and Eastern European software? Seriously wondering, because most software I saw from these regions was mediocre at best.

The whole world uses operating systems, browsers and development tools made in western countries.

yAnonymous··on Crushed wood is stronger than steel
And if you keep going, you'll eventually create a black hole.
yAnonymous··on People who are less willing to apologize also tend to be less self-compassionate
You have this whole apologizing thing the wrong way around. You don't automatically apologize because someone feels offended, but only if you truly did something that you feel warrants an apology - and for that evaluation, you shouldn't take into account the possible future, but the past.

You seem like a weirdo.

yAnonymous··on Why Tesla's autopilot can't see a stopped firetruck
The amazing thing here is the "no injuries" part in a frontal crash at 65 mph.
yAnonymous··on 'Space graffiti': astronomers angry over launch of fake star into sky
No. It's good to criticize this now, before everyone starts doing it. I really don't want ad banners in the sky twenty years from now.
yAnonymous··on Facebook to Let Users Rank Credibility of News
Yes, they can.

If all you do to measure trustworthiness is check if the person has an expert tag, I can see your problem.

yAnonymous··on Facebook to Let Users Rank Credibility of News
I'm assuming you do. Otherwise you would have understood the comment.
yAnonymous··on Linus Torvalds: “Somebody is pushing complete garbage for unclear reasons.”
Nothing you said is really related to the topic... classic computer viruses are a thing of the past and there are so many other attack vectors.
yAnonymous··on Facebook to Let Users Rank Credibility of News
An educated person can judge the trustworthiness of a source well enough.
