wussboy··on DARPA unveils 6 new designs for uncrewed vertical-takeoff military aircraft
Down voting because the article doesn’t show any of the designs without (I imagine) watching a video and the site steals your back navigation on mobile to take you to another page.
wussboy··on Einstein went to his office just so he could walk home with Gödel
That’s the part I didn’t understand either. You’re not. You can’t. Because that’s how the city was built. But if the city was built differently a married couple of professionals could get to work without a car.

There’s more to it than this. Check out the Not Just Bikes YouTube channel for the whole story

Is there a burpee equivalent that is easier on the knees?
wussboy··on Einstein went to his office just so he could walk home with Gödel
Oh I fully agree. Car dependency was easier to type than all the stuff you said which is a fuller analysis.
wussboy··on Einstein went to his office just so he could walk home with Gödel
But car dependency is definitely not the root cause…
wussboy··on The QR Backlash Has Won. Restaurants Are Ditching Them for Good.
The system can be greatly improved, but I'd still rather interact with people than machines.

And then they still asked for a tip. I hate these kinds of places and actively avoid them.
wussboy··on LLMs Are This Close to Destroying the Internet
The only true solution to this is seldom mentioned: Real life. "Word of mouth" can still happen (and should happen) by reals words, uttered in the physical world, by real mouths, in the physical world.

I suspect many of our current societal ills are caused by too much information spreading too quickly, not forced to go through a multitude of brains or stand the tests of time.

wussboy··on An open source initiative to share and compare heat pump performance data
Most of the noise in cities is cars. One idiot on a Harley drowns out a warehouse of heat pumps

wussboy··on Phones track everything but their role in car wrecks
Using Vision Pro to watch a movie while they drive home, then sitting at the couch all evening playing a driving game.
wussboy··on Oxxcu, converting CO₂ into fuels, chemicals and plastics
Why is the land being converted to meat production? Surely the problem is one of economics, development and poverty more than anything else? Give the people that live there better options and the deforestation will take care of itself.
wussboy··on OpenD, a D language fork that is open to your contributions
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him comment here on a D related post. Which I totally understand.

wussboy··on The fall of Firefox: Mozilla's once-popular web browser slides into irrelevance
I'm assuming it was sarcasm.
wussboy··on Tom Scott: After ten years, it's time to stop making videos [video]
Perhaps. But I wonder how much of this completely passive entertainment was in our ancestral environment? Before 50 years ago, the percentage of all humans who had ever experienced the symphony was so low it was essentially zero. Perhaps the boredom is integral to good living?
wussboy··on Things are about to get worse for generative AI
The answers to all of those questions would be parroted from other research, and to the extent they were novel they would be incorrect.

wussboy··on Active turbulence cancellation makes bumpy flights smoother
I've occasionally thought about getting into RC planes, but the piloting of them always seemed too hard. I'd love some links to what you're talking about if you have some to recommend?

wussboy··on Hello, stranger – Talking to random people
Maybe you're doing it wrong?
wussboy··on Casino-like apps have drained people of millions
For real?

Because when a fool is parted from his money he and those who depend on him starve to death, and that, dear friend, is the part a strong society should be concerned about.
