wishysgb··on Governments should compete for residents, not businesses
Legally it is very hard for a Mexican to move to the Midwest. As in almost impossible requiring almost 20years.

I am not Mexican but it toke my family 14 years to be able to move to the US from Palestine, although my grandparents and uncles have been here since the 80s. It really isn't hard.

A company doesn't need to move everything, they can just literally build a new factory or rent one else where, not only that they would even get tax breaks as incentives for moving.

Borders enforce the huge discrimination in pay between TJ and San Diego. Even though the same companies work on both sides of the border.

wishysgb··on Amazon had sales income of €44bn in Europe in 2020 but paid no corporation tax

wishysgb··on YouTube is now building its own video-transcoding chips

I do believe system76 laptops are almost completely open source other than the intel microcode.
wishysgb··on Fry's Electronics is closing all stores
I hope microcenter doesn't go the same route as fry's. they need to keep the knowledgeable staff, I think they need to up their game in staff to be honest. also they need to update their fing stock more often and more accurately. also as much as it pains me to have to travel 40 mins to get to one, a limited number of locations is key, it helps reduce costs down.
wishysgb··on Fry's Electronics is closing all stores
not a single whole seller ever let me get something out of their stock. I must learn your secrets. but yeah it was a shit show
wishysgb··on Fry's Electronics is closing all stores
At a point in my life I liked that place but that was a very brief moment. I saw they did everything wrong, they staff wasn't knowledgeable and you wouldn't expect them to be at minimum wage. The isles I cared about most, the electronics component and the test equipment isles were always shitty, if I bought something it would never get restocked again.

wishysgb··on Apple Silicon M1 chip in MacBook Air outperforms high-end 16-inch MacBook Pro
well, my very powerful laptop barely every gets any noise. Most of the time it is silent until I am compiling something. It is of course apples fault as their cooling is suboptimum
wishysgb··on Apple Silicon M1 chip in MacBook Air outperforms high-end 16-inch MacBook Pro

Well it is a nice summary of a nice transistor. Sometimes it is nice to go back to basics. And understand how things are done there.
wishysgb··on 1Password for Linux beta
I have been using lastpass for more than 10 years and honestly I do enjoy the ease of use. for example biometrics on the phone. Should I switch? is it worth the time investment.

I don't get many things that they need to smash AI into. but I do get it more than the blockchain hype. oh my god if mother and it's dog had a blockchain startup. what where the benefits I have no fucking idea. I like thinking of blockchain as the free energy equivalent in the software world.
wishysgb··on I miss Microsoft Encarta (2019)
I owe a lot to Encarta and Microsoft Mathematics. I love that application I think it was one of the first applications that I bought with my hard earned money instead of pirating. because it was so worth it.
wishysgb··on I miss Microsoft Encarta (2019)
it isn't even that old
wishysgb··on I miss Microsoft Encarta (2019)
I just don't get why doesn't it matter . for what it is Pokemon is a game and in some ways a form of art, and since many humans are interested in it deeply that means that it is important to them. I think it is important human knowledge, there is no need to be elitest about it.
wishysgb··on The Graphing Calculator Story (2004)
For anyone that says people need a material incentive to do work. No we don't. Humans will do what is right and what is good for goods sake, when you steel away their humanity and their dignity then they will have the material incentive as the only motivator to do work.
