I think it's what it's officially called in the Alien Universe

Damn. End of an era. Anandtech was the reason I got into hardware and computers in general.

Is this a problem that needs to be solved? No sarcasm intended.

As a customer of Mode, why not give Taplytics a shot? :)

RE: RescueTime new URL tab.. that's really clever! Stealing this for myself. Cheers

Also, SizeUp. Let's you customize your desktop windows to fullscreen, half screen etc with hot keys. http://www.irradiatedsoftware.com/sizeup/

RescueTime. Hands down. Have been a proud customer for 4 years. Saved me months of my life being frittered away. Except right now.. I guess :)

Why all the cynicism?

Swift and Olympic Weightlifting

Interesting that Optimizely is positioning themselves as the over arching discipline as "Statistics reinvented for the internet age". My guess is to parry against the onslaught of A/B testing and optimization platforms for web and mobile from all directions. Of course with their stable of PHD statisticians and data scientists, Optimizely is the answer.

Even if it's not an official response, there are ways to be able to get backchannel information.. only if you're able to leverage relationships you've already built for people working at the company you interviewed with.

You'd be surprised at what you're body is capable of as long as you're lifting with proper form, getting enough rest and doing mobility on a regular basis.

Yeah, that's a shame. I understand their rationale as it might undermine their programming. At my CrossFit gym, they'll allow you to try other styles of programming only after you've become proficient at "CrossFit"

Ha.

Wow, that would be a great case study over at bootstrappers.io ... Would love to read about your bootstrapping / lifestyle business experiences.

I find the Anki software to be perfect for my purposes of spaced repetition learning. I've invested a lot of time in creating my decks. Because I don't want to recreate those decks again, is there anyway to import those decks I've already created onto CleverDeck?

What's the startup that you'll be working on?

Crap - I just bought a new Macbook Air the first day it was available. Oh well, I guess I'll never really notice...

Been learning Ruby via Learn Code The Hard Way for a part time Rails course that I'm taking over at BrainStation.it https://www.evernote.com/shard/s51/sh/b463df04-03b4-44cc-9f0...

Sweet - I just got an invite back on April 11 - looking forward to digging in. Right now I'm still on Fitocracy but looking for alternatives.

I'm surprised 500px wasn't on this list.

Looks like it's missing a bunch of retention hooks to bring users back to continually engage and check int. Whether it's email reminders, notifications etc. I created an account 2 weeks ago, only remembered about HabitRPG now after checking out HN.

I think just sticking to one framework is the best way to go - I decided to go rails because it's the lowest common denominator, stupid amount of resources on it and approachability for a beginner.. even then.. it's still pretty damned hard. (for me anyway)

I toy with the idea of purchasing a dumbphone at least once a month.

Cool - signed up for AWS S3 last night and woke up to this news :)

Interesting that you mention that as that was going to be the next resource I was going to look into beyond using other supplementary resources like Treehouse and Codecademy.

I'm a backer of Daniel Kehoe's Learn Ruby on Rails ebook on Kickstarter. While I'm certainly not coming from a background of vast experience, I've tried other resources such as Treehouse (which is great by the way), it is VERY approachable and would lend itself to newbies and Product Managers who are learning to become more technical. After a break from Treehouse, I forgot most of the concepts as the stuff I learned had atrophied. When I needed to start fresh, and from a different perspective, his ebook is a great starting point for the absolute beginner.

I think it's awesome that Daniel opened up for people to download the ebook for free. I don't mind the $18 that I ponied up because I believe the value I've received is far beyond that.

I'd love to see some IFTTT recipes for this - the possibilities!

I never quite understood the fascination with medium.. it's cool and all, but I'd rather invest in my own "platform" as Marco had put it and control everything with respect to my brand, content and tweak anything and everything to my heart's desire.

RCS ftw!
