The sack of Constantinople was 30 years into the future after this expedition. But yes, after the fall of Constantinople in 1204, it never was able to recover its former power. Manuel I Komnenos really blew it with the decision to anger the Venetian's.
I like the Shimano MTB stuff, usually I'm all in on the XT level stuff. I did have some XTR cranks back in the day, but they had this cool dark grey color. I especially like the XT disk brakes and their clipless XT trail pedals.
This is the info that people should be looking at. Building these facilities takes time. I'm guessing they are thinking that demand is not going to decline anytime soon to justify this buildout. EDIT both SKHynix and Samsung are also expanding their DRAM production lines and new plants. So they are all working on adding new capacity.
Mountain driving can be scary if you are driving too fast or in bad weather. We have the Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest highway here in SoCal which is windy and has steep cliffs. Every weekend people come out with their motorcycles and sports cars and try to turn it into a race course. I remember years back a carpool van with people commuting to Cal Tech from Palmdale went over the side killing the passengers. It was during the winter and it was foggy and may have been icy too.
Man going from a Windows environment all the way to NixOS is quite the change isn't it? Probably good if NixOS can get more attention and easier to use. I see a lot of hype for it, and then people seem to give up as it can get pretty gnarly with some of the configuration. I'm a fan of something like Fedora Silverblue with the immutable OS setup.
My father in law did database programming for small businesses using FoxPro. It was pretty cool, it created the executable and you could host it on any Windows file server IIRC. I think it also may have had some server functionality built in too. Anyways, it was fast if the database was designed correctly and allowed for easy setup at the clients offices. I think before that he was using a product called Clipper.
Yeah, I kept getting a notification about purchasing and extended warranty for my AirPods, which was annoying because it shows up in the same place as OS updates.
No, I watch video of cars coming into the shop and the models from the Midwest are usually in pretty rough shape due to all the corrosion from the salt on the roads. And brand doesn't seem to matter.
Ha, I watched some guy on Youtube who bought a carwash. It's seems like a decent way to basically make some money with not a ton of work. Plus, you can get a lot of money as cash too, makes it easy to not report as income, which I bet a lot of their owners do.
It looks like your license only allows for the web version, so your university probably isn't spending that much for it. You'd get the same message on Windows too.
Every developed country is going to push for their own homemade chips. Japan used to make Sparc CPU's back in the day. Probably many others I'm not aware of.
We did this for my wife right before the Pandemic. Luckily we already had a 12 foot by 12 foot cement pad in our backyard. The building itself was 10 feet by 12 feet and cost $5000. Then we had to install insulation and drywall which was another $1500. Then I had a single 20 Amp power line installed and that cost another $1000, but I also had him do some other work and I assisted with the digging of the trench. I think we were at around $9000 all in with it. I checked with the company and that model of building we got is around $8000 now, so maybe around 60% more now?
We are already seeing it in the California State University system. Many of the universities have plummeting student enrollment. I suspect Sonoma State will be the first to be closed. More will follow them. Our local school districts have lost more than 40% of their students from the high water mark in the early 2000’s.
Both MacOS and Windows start having issues if you have less than 10% of the disk free. The problem with the Mac is your ~/Library/Application support/ folder can get huge and take up a ton of space. Mine is currently at 55GB
I'm a bit confused from Iron Mountain's response about how they are worried that data could be co-mingled with other data? That would be an interesting way to back up data.
Hard to believe, currently Medicare/Medicaid make up around 23% of the budget. If you opened that to all, there would have to be a huge tax increase to pay for it. I suppose if you are very poor then it would be good, but the middle class would be the ones having to foot the bill for this.
I'm pretty light skinned and the burn pretty easily. I just put on sunscreen by default when going hiking/mountain biking. I'm really excited for the new sunscreens coming out here in the US that have those new to us ingredients that the Euro's have had forever.
