There exist Pareto optimal economic policies.

You're just doing Russell conjugation.
voldacar··on Artists have forgotten how to draw
Sorry but I think Michaelangelo and Leonardo knew much more about art than you.
voldacar··on Why is division so much more complex than other arithmetic operations?
Before mechanical calculators, large tables of logarithms were computed by hand and used for exactly this purpose.

voldacar··on Cancer pill AOH1996 shows promise in annihilating all solid tumours
Whether or not it's a "terrible idea" depends purely on the alternative.

I'm not spreading false hope. This is a choice that can only be made by an individual person. If your life were on the line, you would probably start looking at anything that had even a small chance of helping, including new and unproven therapies. Your attitude would change significantly.

And it's a small molecule so it wouldn't be terribly difficult to have someone in China make you a batch. I've purchased obscure pharms from labs in China and haven't been scammed yet

voldacar··on The first room-temperature ambient-pressure superconductor?
If you make LK-99, I would love to buy some from you. Email me if interested
voldacar··on The first room-temperature ambient-pressure superconductor?
The graphs on page 3 are exactly what you would expect with a real superconductor. The current/voltage/temp relationship especially. In fact I don't see how you get graphs that look like that unless you either created a superconductor or are just blatantly making up the data. This could be enormous.
voldacar··on Custom instructions for ChatGPT
I'm somewhat skeptical that this is the actual GPT4 prompt. Wouldn't they just filter that out of any text that leaves the model?
voldacar··on Computer memory prototype ditches 1s and 0s for denser data storage
There's a Japanese company that makes a laser turntable that can play a vinyl record without any physical contact. It's pretty cool.
voldacar··on What planes can you fly without a pilot’s license?
Nice, thanks for the answer. I always conceptualized a spin as an unstable state that just gets worse and worse if left unattended.
voldacar··on What planes can you fly without a pilot’s license?
It's not possible to enter an unrecoverable spin in a light aircraft?

>How do we ensure AI systems much smarter than humans follow human intent?

What is human intent? My intents may be very different from most humans. It seems like ClosedAI wants their system to follow the desires of some people and not others, but without describing which ones or why.

voldacar··on Can Dell’s 6K monitor beat their 8K monitor?
My eyes naturally snap to moving objects and track them. And even if I only look at the spot where I want the cursor to be, I can still see it moving and leaving frames behind in my periphery. And that's at 144hz. I'm thinking of getting a 240hz or 390hz soon though.
voldacar··on Can Dell’s 6K monitor beat their 8K monitor?
I'm shocked that group 2 exists at all. Just wave your mouse around and watch the cursor. Or open up quake and turn around while keeping your eye focused on a stationary object.
voldacar··on FBI obtains Kolektiva.social database while executing warrant on administrator
Also you should run all your text communications through a LLM to defeat stylometry
voldacar··on Ernst Jünger’s narratives of complicity
This just reads like a hit piece written by an intellectually uncurious and fragile person. It's not even an interesting hit piece.
voldacar··on Ignoring boys' emotional needs fuels public health risks
How are men treated there? I'm not sure what your point is. Most of us haven't lived in Ukraine or Russia.

Women have useless partners in 80% of cases? That seems a bit unhinged, don't you think?
voldacar··on Gnome Wayland vs. X.org Performance for Radeon and Nvidia Gaming on Ubuntu 23.04
Are they really looking only at fps and not latency? Wayland adds an extra frame of latency. This absolutely matters
voldacar··on Are chiplets enough to save Moore’s Law?
What if you added tiny hollow channels between each layer of stacked chiplets and pumped coolant through them at high pressure
