victorbojica··on Launch HN: Spinach.io (YC W22) – Better daily standups
Seems very cool. Honestly, the biggest selling point for me would be the historic data. Having a place to check in and to look at from time to time would be great. It would allow to evaluate progress, direction, etc. Looking for something like this for some time!
victorbojica··on Please don't ask founders existential questions
I'm a founder and I've gotten all lot of these. I usually don't take them to the heart, but at some point you start questioning yourself and they might shine a new perspective on it. They might be right, or they might be wrong, but the answer and the actions are mostly on you.

My take after all this is that you should question your friend, but if the drive is there, there's no point in arguing or being the "rational" one. The best way forward is support.

victorbojica··on Ask HN: Should I give up and get a job?
If you don't check the market, it's not a risk. It's just a poor decision.
victorbojica··on Ask HN: What books are recommended to learn the semiconductor industry?
You could try checking this out. Seems like a good starting point. The videos are very detailed. https://youtube.com/c/Asianometry
victorbojica··on Loving Someone with Depression
Leaving this here as it may help some people in this position, but don't know what to do
victorbojica··on A package update broke (maybe compromised) all of the React pipelines worldwide
Seems to also contain malicious code :(
victorbojica··on Tesla opens charging network to other EVs for the first time
I'm on the fence about this. On one hand this would be a new revenue stream (even if a small one). On the other hand, fuelling stations installing chargers might be seen as cannibalizing their own market. I think there will be some time until we see those unfortunately. They will probably be the last to do it.
victorbojica··on Anchor Modelling – Agile Database Modeling
I'm really interested if someone implemented this approach (in production) and what are the drawbacks
victorbojica··on How many real numbers exist? New proof moves closer to an answer
But if you assign them randomly, then it should work

1->5.85916

2->8.7599

...

Or even randomize the order for the integers

5->7.52256951

77->848.455

...

victorbojica··on Refinement Culture (2020)
My take on this is that somehow this seems to be human nature at play (and should be accounted for) . This applies for anything that has some set of rules defined (be it by people, or nature). Basically a game. Everyone is trying to maximize for the win. Now and then a new thing is discovered and along with it, some new use cases for maximizing the wins. It's the same for politics (obscure laws that open different use cases), music (millennial whoop) , film (netflix only running series with 2-3 seasons) , formula 1, etc.
victorbojica··on Show HN: React Flow – library for creating node based editors and apps
Looks cool. Looks similar to dynamo. https://dynamobim.org/

I'm curious if that's your inspiration.

victorbojica··on Why Software Jewels Are Rare (1996) [pdf]
That's a very interesting tool/language. I don't really understand how it works, but I kind o understand the idea behind it. I think.

Will it be used to build online board games (like an engine) or to "generate" one?

There's also another nice tool for simulating games. Not really in the scope if your project, but around the games topic. https://machinations.io/

victorbojica··on Show HN: I built a VS Code Theme Creator – easily make VS Code themes in browser
Very nice tool. I don't have the patience to fully customise a theme, but i would really like to browse through the existing themes.

The only problem here is that there are a lot of themes (most of them) that were started just for checking the tool out, so they're not really finished or different from the default. Maybe you could add some kind of publish button - or as a quick fix, don't show the themes with "Untitled" in the title.

Otherwise great project. I really think this would be great for medium sized IT shops/companies for branding their tooling. Great job.

PS: found this gem https://themes.vscode.one/theme/rpetersen29/dOaUUtdW

victorbojica··on How an Anti-TypeScript “JavaScript developer” like me became a TypeScript fan
Being skeptical shouldn't mean being ignorant. Being skeptical should mean Trying to understand the pros and cons and believing it's not worth it.
victorbojica··on Diplomacy: The Board Game of the Alpha Nerds (2014)
This seems very similar to the Game of Thrones Board Game. Seems like it is heavily inspired from Diplomacy.
victorbojica··on Facebook shuts popular stock trading group amid GameStop frenzy
I'm thinking that their stock is also tied to the hedge funds holding short positions on GME and etc. They also took a dive because of WSB - maybe their covering their own interests?
victorbojica··on An Update on Market Volatility
How do you know this ?
victorbojica··on Why outsource your auth system?
Passport. It provides a lot of authentication schemes
victorbojica··on Permanent suspension of @realDonaldTrump
Honestly, I'm more interested in what kind of precedent this will set. I mean, a social platform censoring the president, and more so, banning it. We're living in interesting times.
victorbojica··on A Microsoft executive accidentally exposed one of the ugly truths of tech
The title is a bit misleading, but interesting article
victorbojica··on Ask HN: Does anyone know any good resources for enterprise UX design?
We do have a saying, as our product does a lot of atuff differently than competition and our users accept that (they're even looking for that). we also decided that we're not going to become a one customer product, but even with feedback and previous domain experience, it's still hard to model an enterprise product that accommodates all the required processes and data and still feel good and not feel like accounting software.
victorbojica··on Ask HN: Does anyone know any good resources for enterprise UX design?
It's not really about what you put in your product, but more of how you design your product to accommodate all the data, actions and processes required for the people to do their job and not look or feel like accounting software or some oracle tool
victorbojica··on Ask HN: Does anyone know any good resources for enterprise UX design?
It's hard when the sale process is about a year. The sample size is way too small and we'll probably end up developing a one-customer product... Not saying that it doesn't help, but you need more users
victorbojica··on Data Runner Watch Prototype – Modded Casio F91W
Found this gem a few weeks ago and was also completely blown away. Especially the YouTube videos.

What i'm thinking is that popularity and SEO issues are not really a concern since it looks like a very closed community type of thing.

victorbojica··on Grant Imahara Has Died
I've really liked Mythbusters. I grew up with their shows. I still think about their shows weekly. I'm really sad about what happened. Grant seemed (didn't get to know him) like a very nice guy and he really inspired me (along with the whole Mythbusters team) and as it appears, a whole lot of other people. Thanks Grant for your work and dedication! You won't be forgotten!
victorbojica··on The saddest “Just Ship It” story
The irony is that he still didn't ship it !! Even when there isn't anything to lose :(. Please do!
victorbojica··on Happiness is a freshly organized codebase
Do you have some boilerplate or some demo published anywhere ? Seems like a very neat concept.
victorbojica··on Zappy – Screen capture tool
The tool seems very nice and I totally get the problem. I tried finding a reliable and feature complete screen capture tool for so long now. But it's kind kind of frustrating that you need to login to use it. Especially when there is no need (unless you want to use the cloud features). Why does it need log in?
victorbojica··on A new form of brain stimulation relieved severe depression in a small study
Did it help with your depression ? Can you give more details into your issue ? Thx.
victorbojica··on Why Workday Is Different by Design, and Why It Matters
I'm curious if someone worked with the stuff described in the article. Maybe describe it in more specific terms?
