vfistri2··on Italian privacy regulator bans ChatGPT
I would call it very woke, exaggerating political correctness to the point of being clownish.
vfistri2··on Should we at some point pause AI development?
While there is only 1 biggest player (openAI) I would say we can, but if it gets to a point where we have multiple players i suppose it would be extremely hard without proper controls already in place.
vfistri2··on Should we at some point pause AI development?
To me this is quite an interesting idea, I am not sure if now is the correct time to pause it. Or how to spot when it is correct time. What are your thoughts?
vfistri2··on Speak English to me: The secret world of programmers
I feel like github is not the right place to put a blog, reading any text there that is longer than single line gets me eyestrain.
vfistri2··on Ask HN: Is there a license to protect my code and art from AI?
Would be interested in art copyright too. But honestly I have no idea how to prove that ML model was trained on my art.
vfistri2··on Parsing JSON Is a Minefield (2018)
yesterday there was a rant about parsing yml and its different versions/datatypes support
vfistri2··on I built a wildlife pond [video]
One of the most inspiring "small" things a man can do. On a side note It really shows the guy doing this video is fully enjoying what he does.
vfistri2··on Artificial womb facility concept for 30k babies per year
even though intentions are noble it awfully reminds me of matrix scenes
vfistri2··on Undetectable very-low frequency sound increases dancing at a live concert
just wait until amazon starts playing it on their website, (it is doable with autoplay after first click) :)
vfistri2··on Ask HN: What interesting problems are you working on?
would be interested to contribute if its open source
vfistri2··on Ask HN: What interesting problems are you working on?
thats interresting I had some thoughts about ferrofluids and magnets as a way to build perpetual motion.
vfistri2··on Ask HN: People who use different emails everywhere, who sold you to spammers?
it has gotten so bad in usa, with creep calling. Seems whenever somebody is not happy with something their immediate response is you are a creep. I find those kind of people disturbing.
vfistri2··on Is there a general factor of intelligence?
article is quite misleading, I can't believe author wasted 5 mins of my life explaining data science and visualisation while all I cared for are answers.
vfistri2··on Ask HN: Why don't many video hosting companies adopt PeerTube or P2P?
I would say p2p always has that stigma about copyright stuff, but at the same time there is most certainly business opportunities in that field.
vfistri2··on You don't need that CORS request
imho CORS is poorly designed mechanism, you should be able to flag api.domain.com as a safe place, making a single cors request at start of user interaction with your app. Also some sort of caching should be more than welcome.

On a side note at previous company I've worked at, speed was critical, so we were forced to do same tactic, use /api instead of api.domain.com which resulted in huge improvements :)

vfistri2··on Wish HN: Happy Holidays
happy holidays all, may you live long and prosperous
vfistri2··on Ask HN: What you up to? (Who doesn't want to be hired?)
I've got super hc into media. Built a netflix party for torrents this year https://jarvisplayer.com and now I am building a bitorrent live. It streams your own built tv-channels (media streams) with a couple of min delay on any supported client. Besides that got a girlfriend and getting used to living together
vfistri2··on Ask HN: Is it unprofessional to leave a new job where everything is a mess?
It is not unprofessional, at the end of the day market is hot and it is your right to capitalise on it. Also first thing you need to do is take care of yourself, there are always job tradeoffs. And sometimes in the name of money and benefits we all sometimes do a little bit of self-convincing that shit-show is not that, it might improve with time ect. At the end of the day, looking back for each one of those sel-convincing thoughts i've done i felt bad, and felt it should have followed my guts and left almost instantly. At last company i've worked at there was no code reviews, no pull requests, at first it felt wierd but later on I was 100% sure those guys are complete amateurs. Am happily employed atm at one of MAANG atm.
vfistri2··on Ask HN: Whatever happened to exploring the internet?
I wonder why no1 makes social network just for links, like i honestly don't care about other people's inarticulate opinions i constantly get on facebook and twitters. I do however care about links some share.
vfistri2··on Gmail password first character is case insensitive on mobile device
doesn't that mean they are storing plain text/reversible encrypted passwords? I have gmail and facebook accounts way before mobile was invented, if they've added that feature for mobile imho it means password was stored in plain text or with 2 way encryption
vfistri2··on Tracking users via CSS
use to love ETag :)
vfistri2··on Deno 1.4
Nop they’ll probabbly just buy new software that is built on smth like go
vfistri2··on OpenJDK is now on GitHub

vfistri2··on Tiny websites are great
Would love to have some simple stack automated.
vfistri2··on Xenotransfusion as a way to skip testing?
Ethical implications aside, you guys think think this might work?
vfistri2··on OpenAI at the Dota 2 World Championships
Is there a research paper on this?
