username111··on Deploy Java Apps With Docker
If you really want to know it isn't for finding the main site that everyone uses golang it is for finding all other references to the language.

As an example cloudflare writes a large amount of posts that have something to do with go if you google "go cloudflare" you get relevant results but you also get results of google mixing in the word "get" for go which are completely irrelevent.

Now if you google "golang cloudflare" all results pertain to the Go programming language.

(Not the best example because cloudflare doesn't use golang in their posts).

username111··on Deploy Java Apps With Docker
Not if you want to search for it.
username111··on Ask HN: AOL owns a domain name I could really use. How to get it?
You'll probably never get it without an exorbitant amount of money.

Try looking for a similar name plenty of people use search engines and bookmarks so a domain like thexxxx.com or getxxxx.com isn't that ridiculous.

username111··on Ask HN: Simple email SaaS?
Rackspace is pretty bare bones and lots of people like it: http://www.rackspace.com/email-hosting/webmail

I use fastmail https://www.fastmail.fm

Depending on your uses one might be cheaper than the other, fastmail is pretty cheap if you only have 1 user for all the domains (you can alias whatever email addresses you want) ($40/year personal plan)

Rackspace I haven't really used so I don't know how they handle multiple domains it might be cheaper to use them with multiple users. They do require a minimum $10/month

username111··on Amazon's full size PDF reader, the Kindle DX, is back
As long as your pdfs translate well to grayscale it should be fine.

The new kindle web browser is quite nice (I believe it uses webkit) but isn't something you'll want to use for anything that you want to get done quickly.

I haven't tried this new DX but I love eink screens and feel that they are much easier to read than laptop/ipad or other birgh screens.

username111··on HTC One Google Edition announced, launching June 26th for $599
It is actually a comparable price to other phones.

Without contract the iphone 5 is rather expensive as well.

username111··on Dear WordPress
I don't like the Svbtle style but I don't think you should suggest using something that stole the design and is not condoned by the original author.

It's so funny how outraged hacker news becomes when a startups design is stolen but when dcurtis made svbtle a private platform they were all to happy to have people steal the design.

username111··on Dear WordPress
Are you on XP? (I ask because it looks like you don't have any anti-aliasing on).

If you adjust your cleartype settings (or turn it on in XP) it will look a bit more normal.

username111··on Trying out this Go thing at Disqus
I don't know why the parent comment does it but with nginx you can leverage things like caching out of the box. (Would mostly be used on static files, either generated or pre-made).
username111··on Designing blogs for readers
Don't break my browser defaults for your preferences.

If I want it to open in a new window I'll shift+click and if I want a new tab I'll ctrl+click or middle mouse click.

username111··on Leaving Google’s silo: Alternatives to Gmail, Talk, Calendar, and more
Gmail has it as an option (labs last I used gmail), that is the best way I think to do it.

I don't ever find a need to undo an email though.

I believe it was only for like 20-30 seconds as well that it offered undo.

username111··on How zsh is more useful than bash
Using the following got rid of a lot of my correction woes:

    alias sudo="nocorrect sudo"
That is why you were getting the .aptitude one, you can use it for other commands that it gets the corrections wrong often.

I've since moved to vanilla bash+bash completion since it is everywhere and zsh completion seemed to annoy me more than help me.

username111··on In Hours, Thieves Took $45 Million in A.T.M. Scheme
US debit cards just require magnetic strip and pin to withdraw from ATMs.
username111··on Ask HN: What are good compact keyboards for programming?
There is the happy hacking keyboard (the mechanical one is quite expensive and the regular one is hard to find, and usually comes out to ~$100 if not bought from the company).

You can find a few here: http://www.elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=special&f...

Those are pretty expensive though.

The typematrix is also an interesting option:

username111··on Jekyll 1.0 Released
Well if you're on hacker news and you don't know what jekyll is you're probably in the minority.
username111··on What are Fortran and Cobol used for today?
Even matlab uses those libraries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAPACK )
username111··on Ask HN: Best way to monetize jgc.org
You could try one of the non intrusive ad networks (fusion, the deck) but I think most are invite only.

I've also seen you show a few products in some posts so affiliates may be an okay money maker (See more money than google ads).

The best would be to have someone pay to sponsor you per month or per period.

username111··on ESEA turned anti-cheat client into BTC miner
The difference here is that ESEA was the most trusted league in America and the majority of competitive cs players have subscribed to it for 7 dollars a month. (The anti-cheat was only one aspect of the client)
username111··on “God, I hate recruiters”
Just a heads up, confidence is the correct noun to use.

Confident is the adjective form.

username111··on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail Released
Regarding google chrome it has been fixed on the unstable channel for a while now.
username111··on Emacs setup for Python development
I use sublime for WordPress because it doesn't use PEAR coding standards and that's what my emacs phone is setup for (also you don't have to set up multiple major modes).

Everything else is done in emacs because it is the better editor. Just wish it was pretty.

username111··on Setting up Sublime Text 2
Did you use emacs starter kit? Because that binds fullscreen to F11.

It is unbound on linux as well (emacs24)

username111··on Linode NextGen: RAM Upgrade
The use case I gave was looking up logs to see how something failed and to access files that aren't backed up but still exist on the virtual drive (this can happen when the OS fails to boot). You can also repair the virtual install if you accidentally messed up a configuration file or something like that.

And yes linode has this: http://www.linode.com/wiki/index.php/Finnix_LiveCD_Recovery_...

username111··on Linode NextGen: RAM Upgrade
I wasn't talking about backups I was talking about a Recovery option which allows you to boot into linux and mount your existing virtual drives to extract data or fix errors/look at logs.
username111··on Linode NextGen: RAM Upgrade
You can access a recovery image on linode I'm guessing there is no such thing available for Digital Ocean is why he was asking for help in recovering files (even prgmr offers a recover images that you can use to recover files).

The fact that he didn't get any help is a problem that is what support is supposed to do and if he expects a higher level of support than Digital Ocean provides and Linode provides that I see no problem.

username111··on Looking for well written comments and commit messages
Linux commit messages are rather detailed and appropriate commit messages: https://github.com/torvalds/linux

The Linux source is also very well commented, but C might not be what you're looking for.

username111··on Don't use Linksys routers
I haven't seen a modem (from a telecom) that isn't a router in the past 5 years. Most ship wireless router/modems to their customers these days as standard.

Cable companies might still ship modems (they did the last time I had cable internet, but that was probably 8 years ago).

username111··on JetBrains is working on a cross-platform C++ IDE
This is the reason I don't use jetbrains products, I use linux and the Java font rendering is absolutely awful, I've tried all the fixes and I can't find any of them pleasing enough to use.
username111··on What is the best language to learn at this moment?
Ruby has a big enough foothold that it should stay around for quite some time.

Though I do prefer python.
