unfathomable··on Malicious tweet gives journalist Kurt Eichenwald an epileptic seizure
So to be clear, you want someone to be imprisoned because they sent a tweet.

unfathomable··on Ask HN: What tech has made us better?
I don't think it has made us better humans, it has made us weaker humans in the biological and physical sense.

I don't need a powered toggle to roll down the windows in a car, but technology assumed I did, and it's little things like that, which make us weaker and lesser than our primitive counterparts.

The most primitive self sufficient savage is superior to the technological cube dweller.

unfathomable··on IT Jobs Explained with a Broken Lightbulb
That's bitter.
unfathomable··on Ask HN: Why all websites are not statically generated?
Most websites are not constantly changing and would benefit from static hosting.

I guess the dynamic page generators are simpler.

You need to change a lot of the static generators for custom solutions. A lot of tinkering is involved.

unfathomable··on How Hunter S. Thompson Predicted the Rise of Trumpism
>> We parents tell our children that when you know you’ve lost an argument or a race, the right thing to do is to be a good sport and to “get ’em next time.” But if there is no next time, or you know that every next time you are going to be in the loser’s lane again, what’s the use of being a good sport? It would make you look even more ignorant, and more like a loser, to pretend like you think you have a chance. The game has been rigged against you. Why not piss on the field before you storm off? Why not stick up your finger at the whole goddamned game?
unfathomable··on Google studying ways to deal with offensive search suggestions and results
More Orwellian censorship perhaps.

I mean how are you going to find "offensive" stuff in the first place unless you were looking for it and want to read about it?

This reminds me of the time Google manipulated their SERP to hide holocaust revisionist information.

unfathomable··on Source: Twitter cut out of Trump tech meeting over failed emoji deal
Wow Trump is so alpha it's unbelievable.

He's negging the company that he uses to communicate with all of his fans. And he knows they won't do anything about it.

unfathomable··on Show HN: Krew.io
This was really fun but the cannon ball needs more reach and you could increase the cool down (add a graphic bar) so it's more about skillful aim shots instead of masses of balls. Which would help performance and make it more challenging!
unfathomable··on Show HN: Formpost.co – Send forms from your static site
So with formspree you had to validate every page I believe. Which was impossible for my use case, I wanted to add contact forms at the bottom of each blog post and didn't want to have to remember that every URL needs to be activated. What If I changed the article URL? Have to reactive, etc.

So is this a problem with formpost? Thanks

unfathomable··on Twitter and Periscope Shadowbans Dilbert creator
It is treason because they are adamantly attacking Trump supporters because they are Trump supporters.
unfathomable··on Twitter and Periscope Shadowbans Dilbert creator
Twitter has been shadow banning a lot of pro-trump people lately.

For example Barack Obama's brother, Malik. His entire feed is basically Trump support and he was shadow banned the other day. I am happy that they have corrected the issue, they were called out hard for it.

unfathomable··on Fear of a Feminist Future

unfathomable··on Richard Branson on Meeting Donald Trump
> She was a good listener as well as an eloquent speaker. As she understands well, the President of the United States needs to understand and be engaged with wider world issues, rather than be consumed by petty personal quarrels.

Well that is her job and has been her job for most of her life. To talk sweetly. But looking at her track record, the above quote is laughable and means nothing at all. Absolutely nothing.

This is such a pompous piece of crap and I am glad to be leaving Virgin ASAP!

unfathomable··on Ask HN: Good books/research on diversity in workplace
Academics are so afraid of even mentioning diversity in a non positive light, they could lose everything. It's a form of censorship.

There is a lot of evidence showing the negatives of diversity and very little showing the positives.

You have to then come to the conclusion that there is an agenda working against reality trying to make us all accept this new society.

unfathomable··on We Are Already Zombies, We Ain’t Realising It

unfathomable··on Obama Just Became the First Sitting President to Publish an Academic Paper

unfathomable··on Unilever Buys Dollar Shave Club for $1B
Remove any signs of masculinity, cut your hair short, and wear a symbolic noose around your neck every day for your hourly commute. These are the marks of a real free man.

unfathomable··on Drawing Eyes on Cow Butts May Ward Off Hungry Lions

unfathomable··on Obama Just Became the First Sitting President to Publish an Academic Paper
Slow gradual decline.
unfathomable··on There are fewer Pokemon Go locations in black neighborhoods, but why?
Well most of the location data comes from the other previous game the company developed.

So you just have to ask yourself why fewer people want to wander into perceived ghetto areas with their smartphones.

unfathomable··on Understanding Line, the chat app behind 2016’s largest tech IPO

unfathomable··on Europe Is Going After Google Hard, and Google May Not Win
Have you given startpage a try?
unfathomable··on Ask HN: Poll: Are You Playing Pokemon Go?
No but I'm fascinated by the potential of copycat apps which may focus on a niche I'm more interested in.

Today I got a text from my mother "I'm catching pokemon! Did you try the new app?" Which really surprised me.

unfathomable··on See the things you’ve searched for, visited, and watched on Google services
Ever have the feeling that you're looking to get offended at things that aren't there?
unfathomable··on [dead]
I find this kind of reaction strange.

Of course major restructuring like this will be ground shaking, that's to be expected. The opposite is slow stagnation and continually chipping away at the status quo with slow progress.

I just expect a different reaction from HN.

Especially with a startup crowd. You'd think we would be all for this kind of innovation, this "dangerous" going against the grain, and separation from conglomeration.

unfathomable··on Google collects metadata from Android phones

unfathomable··on Google, Facebook quietly move toward automatic blocking of “extremist” videos
> Google, Facebook, and especially Twitter are used by terrorist organisations for recruitment and propaganda. These videos brainwash young people into hatred of the west, incite them to leave their countries to go join a war that is not theirs, polarize, and are directly responsible for suicide attacks.

You could say the same thing about middle eastern war movies propagated by media corporations and military contracts in order to create a stereotypical image of cultures across the seas. In an attempt to sign up more military and invade formerly sovereign middle eastern nations.
