unclenoriega··on New farm bill would condemn pigs to a lifetime in gestation crates
I can't invade North Korea. I can avoid eating pigs.
unclenoriega··on Car has more than 1.2M km on it – and it's still going strong
This reminds me of going hill hopping as a kid with my radio tuned to the local NPR classical music station. Once when I went a little airborne, my engine shutoff upon landing. (It restarted OK though.)
unclenoriega··on White British students not allowed to apply for security services internship
Maybe the devil is in the details here, but it seems rather obvious why intelligence organizations would want to recruit from diverse backgrounds.
unclenoriega··on Microsoft wants $30 if you want to delay Windows 11 switch
Anyone using a Valve Index on Linux?
unclenoriega··on UK electric car drivers should be charged per mile, say campaigners
Perhaps more points of contact is better for the road?
unclenoriega··on It is now easier to pass AP tests
Are you saying that people of below average intelligence can't benefit from a university education?
unclenoriega··on It's Time for Americans to Get over It and Embrace the Bidet (2015)
I agree. I got one with a hot water connection, but after trying it with only the cold, I've never bothered to connect the hot water.
unclenoriega··on Congress accidentally legalized THC six years ago
Wouldn't it make more sense to legalize it and ban advertising it?

They said "intelligent", not "superintelligent".

Small paper magazines consisting mostly or entirely of user-generated, unedited content?
unclenoriega··on Trump found guilty on all charges related to the hush money case
I think it's important to point out here that it's not like the DNC decides who runs for offices. Biden chose to run for reëlection; no good candidates opposed him. At no point did "the Democrats" make any decision.
unclenoriega··on Social Security now expected to run short on funds in 2035, one year later
I guess it depends on your definition of "destroy Social Security", but mine would include the efforts by Republicans to privatize it during the George W. Bush administration.
unclenoriega··on DoorDash won't let you tip NYC drivers without the app
Are those actually the reasons tipping developed or just post hoc rationalizations now that it's solidified? I don't know the answer, but I'm wondering if you do.
unclenoriega··on “Emergent” abilities in LLMs actually develop gradually and predictably – study
FWIW, I read the headline as saying the abilities of LLMs are not emergent.
unclenoriega··on Why are bidets just now getting popular in America?
I got a cheap one with hot and cold water hookups. I decided to try it with just the cold water before bothering to connect the hot. It's been years now, and I still haven't connected the hot water.
unclenoriega··on Florida Is on Its Way to Banning – and Criminalizing – Alternative Meat
I don't think you meant it seriously, but I was surprised how few vegetarians/vegans there are in the US. Even among self-described liberals, it's only 9%.[0] Although it does seem that more people are reducing their meat consumption.

unclenoriega··on A cheap, generic drug became a darling of longevity enthusiasts
I wouldn't surprised if that factors in as well.
unclenoriega··on A cheap, generic drug became a darling of longevity enthusiasts
Sometimes being smart means you're better at rationalizing your beliefs.
unclenoriega··on Man convicted for trying to help undercover game wardens recover deer with drone
That is the least ambiguous part of this. The defendant runs a business offering drone deer recovery.

unclenoriega··on The Bang With Friends Story (2023)
I can't even get past the CAPTCHA.
unclenoriega··on Data leak contains 26B records from numerous previous breaches
This is an explanation poor of why that's the plural correct. You make it sound like that's grammar normal English.
unclenoriega··on Beaver Drop
Passersby were amazed by the unusually large amounts of blood.
unclenoriega··on Tesla driver who killed 2 people while using autopilot must pay $23,000, no jail
So then all crimes should carry the death penalty for maximum deterrence? Or deterrence is impossible and therefore there should be no crimes? What point are you making here?
unclenoriega··on Death of boy, 16, at sawmill highlights rise of child labour in US
> instead of parroting "Child Labor Bad".

That's an interesting way to describe an article about children working dangerous jobs and being killed in the process.

unclenoriega··on YouTube is now blocking ad blockers so I make ads run faster
So if I block the ads, I guess that makes us even.
unclenoriega··on How “blue” and “green” appeared in a language that didn’t have words for them
I want to be clear, it's a small difference in initial ability to distinguish certain colors. If you've spent your whole life dividing colors a certain way, it's a little easier for you to distinguish colors that are on different sides of that boundary.
unclenoriega··on How “blue” and “green” appeared in a language that didn’t have words for them
> This isn't evidence, for example, that language determines or enhances your ability to distinguish color.

Right, language just determines which colors you learn to distinguish early in life. And it's a pretty small effect size IIRC.

unclenoriega··on How “blue” and “green” appeared in a language that didn’t have words for them
Research shows that the way your native language divides colors does affect your ability to distinguish them. For example, a Russian speaker would more quickly and easily distinguish two similar shades if one is goluboy and one is siniy. However, with training, anyone with adequate color vision can learn to be as or more proficient.
