tyler109··on The rise of E Ink Tablets and Note Takers: reMarkable 2 vs Onyx Boox Note Air
I am using 80% of my time working with Dasung eink monitor. The advantages are: -Zero eyestrain -Focussed work/Less Distraction -Less temptation to do anything else (e.g. videos) because its not inviting to do so -More energy after work day and improve of sleep quality -No Bluelight exposure

Disadvantages: -Only BW so need to look at normal screen for graphics -Needed two eink screens otherwise two small to work (but ordered now the 25inch one)

Here is a pic of my setup (actually Dasung featured it): https://twitter.com/DasungTech/status/1391693381726658561/ph...

The 25 inch screen is already out and ordered mine, can't wait for it to come: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/paperlike-253-the-first-2...

I was expecting a higher price point. It's a massive size for an eink monitor.

That's a good point, what is the first adressable market for such a product to gain first momentum before it can become mainstream. Those seem to be low hanging fruits:

-Writers -Coders/Terminal Users like sysadmins -DIY/Hardware Hackers/Raspberry PI/ESP32/Cyberdeck folks -Productivity Hackers -Health Tech folks -Gadget Lovers -Limited Functionality Devices for Education -Folks with medical pre-conditions who need to use eink (e.g. https://dasung-tech.myshopify.com/blogs/news/how-dasungs-e-i...)

I think there is a market, I am just surprised that we take usual monitor like eye-strain as well as the blue light for granted and haven't done anything against it for years. Even though we are having more display usage than ever.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24386252 (from 2013) talks about LCD vs E-ink, and determines backlit LCD induces eyestrain (as measured by blinks per second and self reported visual fatigue) at a higher level, and that the E-ink Paperwhite has a profile similar to paper.

Everyone might perceive Tired Eyes or "Killed Eyes" differently. For some it might be a little scratching/dry eyes for others it might make them headaches und blurred vision up to not be able to use screens anymore for the day.

No matter what it is, in COVID times when everyone uses the screen 8h+ / day we should have some better screen tech, which is at least as good as a book. It can't be that this occupational hazard should be accpeted like it is right now.

Other professions like medical radiology imaging are more forward thinking in this: http://europepmc.org/article/PMC/5449879

I hope color eink monitors become a reality soon. For those who suffer from eye strain through conventional LED this would be a game changer.
