Let me just remind everyone here that in India, it's easy to falsify most documents, so relying on some sort of governmental agency for background is itself negligence. I would expect better from Uber knowing how ruthless they are and I'm disappointed. That said, the Indian government, which is a monument to human incompetence and corruption can't shouldn't really get away with this ham-fisted reaction.
I bought a couple winter coats from them. BEWARE of the size, as obvious as it sounds, but I can often wear Medium or even Small sized clothes at H&M and Zara, so I picked 'Large' on Aliexpress and I swear it would be an Extra-Extra-Small here in the US.
I'm really impressed by all these polished launch pages that Show HN folks design. Lack of such is an admittedly lame reason why I refrain from posting projects on HN.
It's called the gender equality paradox. The more supposedly 'equal' the opportunities between genders are, the more the outcomes seem to diverge. Scandinavian countries have strong gender-based career divergence as well.
I await Social Justice Warrior attacks using this new weapon. It's bound to happen. Let's fill every organization's charter with vague rules which can then be exploited by power-hungry self-righteous pricks. Brilliant idea.
Look guize, us Asian men don't count in the diversity quota. In fact it works against us. We retain all the 'privilege' narrative-based negative points in Progressive demonology as white men, plus we gain a few systematic discrimination points from University affirmative action programs, etc.
Whenever 'diversity' is mentioned, we are either invisible or to be implicitly counted among white men.
Agreed. I absolutely loathe Big Bang Theory and don't understand why people like it. It consists of cardboard cutout characters with unfunny dialogue.
I watched the Silicon Valley pilot and was on the floor laughing. This is genuine stuff. No comparison.
This does not square with my perception but that's anecdotal. Nonetheless I work at a very large financial firm and the rates paid for consulting are 70-80% higher than salaries at the same level. Even accounting for 30-50% add-ons for benefits/vacations, etc, consulting firms are still paid higher than employees, at least here.
Screw 'penalties.' Have you looked at Wall Street over the past decade? Every month or so there's some 'settlement' with a regulatory agency with some fine or the other for all kinds of issues. Class-action lawsuits also enrich the lawyers mostly. It would be best if the engineers themselves would get compensated, but not sure how it would be possible to identify the plaintiffs.
Let's all eat each other in this holier-than-thou contest. It seems to be where everything is heading anyway with reduced privacy. The personal is now political or made to be.
