DynamoDB global tables launched in November 2017, it isn't four years old yet.
CFN lag is an issue for sure but not quite that much of an issue...
SAM seemed like an effort to create an open spec for this type of App but looks more and more bespoke to AWS.
How is this different with Bitcoin? Edit: by which i mean, either you work out what do do with the key, or you trust an exchange/online wallet provider to do it for you.

Seems unfortunate that it requires the coupling with spinnaker - although i can see how it helps with the cluster definition features.
Edit: I'll add that we've been using the original chaos monkey and chaos lambda extensively in production for some time with very few problems.
Does Instagram support MFA - i can't see a configuration mechanism for it on my account. Seems like a bit of a gap in their identity system?
If you're using AWS then Cloudformation (maybe with an abstraction like troposphere), will do what you need.
If you are pressing the big blue 'launch instance' button, you are doing it wrong.

Either they're arrogant about their ability to implement this (which may be well founded), or they're really doing it to assure less savvy advertisers that they're trying as hard as they can...

As you say, its about finding the right tool for the job.
The technology developed in these situations for fleeting etc. is just as likely to find its way into road going trucks as that from Google.
