Used to be friends with Nina back in the day and recently sold our full-timing Airstream. https://www.wheelingit.us/2013/04/26/campsite-lottery-red-ro...

Modest. It got a little more sophisticated once we brought code inhouse.
Public lands and access to public lands can't be a playground for the rich and entitled.
The increased demand makes `walk-ups` a logistical headache for workers (volunteers) on the ground. If there are X amount of campsites available as first-come-first-served, the campground host then has to spend time turning away people all day when those spots get filled by 9am.
I'm not certain what the solution is for bringing the type of spontaneity back that many people crave, but the reservation system is in place for a reason. Crazy demand for nature.
That said, this seems to be the extent of my marketing desire.
I screen scrape campground registration websites and alert you when someone cancels on a date you want to go camping. Fabulously successful. Now back to my day-job.
Don't be. I've done it for 7 years and counting. Have met awesome people and never hassled or bad interactions.
I've seen tons of old broken glass and aging trash in the desert. A good amount of southern California has been paved over. Most of the northeast US is private land and the spaces in between given over to vehicles.
Yeah this new wave of disrespect isn't great, but it is nothing new and I don't think the focus should be shaming the instagram selfie crowd. General respect and teaching is still the way to go.

I'm a 20 year full stack open source web developer looking for my next challenge. In the past I have created a niche social network for a political action committee, joined a small startup and rewrote their public transit tracking and prediction app, then worked with another startup to help small car dealerships find their web presence and streamline their backend operations.I am looking for fast paced small companies or startups. Ruby on Rails/Node.js/React. 8 years remote experience.

They have had a huge problem with tractor trailer drivers following their gps through there and getting stuck. There are now 3-4 electronic signs on each side warning truckers.
With over 20 years of full stack web development experience under my belt I am now looking for new interesting opportunities. I have senior level production experience with Ruby on Rails, React and Node.js.
Check out my side project for an example of what I can do:

If you look you can find RV's that are built to last. The vast majority are built as cheaply as possible though.
My road trip has been going on 2429 days. Couldn't do it in a van, but a 25 foot Airstream is surprisingly comfortable.
They seem to be oddly popular on youtube.

I live an interesting life and it was fun to share and meet others in the same lifestyle niche, but I've just about given up on Instagram. Not worth it.
In the peak season there can be a multi hour wait and the nearby town is also constrained by the canyon and there is no more places to put in parking lots.
I don't really think there is an option besides limiting daily visitors.
Ouch. The rich have enough playgrounds already.
2. Lottery or capped reservations.
Zion is just nuts at the moment. It's awesome to see everyone out and about enjoying nature but the amount of people are just overwhelming to the senses. (The park itself seems to be holding up fairly well)
5. Carefully exploit the resources for a few more trails and opportunities.
6. Foreign tourists could be charged a greater amount.
