tigrank··on Tea if by sea, cha if by land: Why the world only has two words for tea
Came here to say this.
tigrank··on Scientists sent a rocket to Mars for less than it cost to make “The Martian”
Like I said not that there's anything wrong with that.
tigrank··on Scientists sent a rocket to Mars for less than it cost to make “The Martian”
It's marketing. Everything is marketing. It's obvious the target audience of this article are women. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
tigrank··on UNU will use 'human swarm intelligence' to make political predictions on Reddit
They (not really sure if associated with UNU) explain the difference here. http://unanimous.ai/crowds-vs-swarms-which-is-smarter/

With that said I don't see how they let you network.

tigrank··on The Invisible Catastrophe: Record Methane Leak in CA
Yes, CA law states that SoCalGas has to account for the leak by cutting emissions in other places. I think even before the government mandate SoCalGas said they will do compensate for the leak by cutting back in other emissions. So the net effect should be zero after some years.
tigrank··on Yahoo open sources Anthelion web crawler for parsing structured data
I want to build a specialized search site only for cars. Think of it as indeed.com for cars. Is this the magic sauce I've been waiting for?
tigrank··on Ask HN: After 20 years of programming, what do I do now?
Good advice. In some situations you'll get better pay too.
tigrank··on The definitive list of lists (of lists) curated on GitHub
Why isn't your speed and talent being used for something more useful.
tigrank··on Seldon – Serves predictions via a REST API
Explain to me like you are talking to a 5 year old. What can I do with this?
tigrank··on Government computers running Windows XP will be vulnerable after April 8
No they won't. The government will pay Microsoft lots of money to get patches just for themselves.
tigrank··on How to Build a Space Elevator
Nothing new, this idea has been around since the 60s, or was it 70s?
tigrank··on What is it with banks?
In my past job I was building online banking for a small Los Angeles based bank. I'm pretty sure they offer the service you seek. The online banking service I was helping build is still in beta but I think you can request to be added to the beta. Try City National Bank (cnb.com).
tigrank··on Ask HN: Cost of living in Silicon Valley - 2012
day care cost?
tigrank··on Carsabi Opens Access To Car Data (Apparently Green Cars Are Cheaper?)
How do you get the car data? I see you have data from cars.com do you have custom code that scrapes the data or do you use some known tools?

Thanks
