Kapersky denies it, but has never offered any proof.

throwaway29812··on Moderna's mRNA cancer vaccine works better than thought
It would take a specific study isolating people that got the vaccine but never tested positive for COVID, which of course is open to some misreporting (1/3 of COVID cases are asymptomatic and most likely never identified).
throwaway29812··on Moderna's mRNA cancer vaccine works better than thought
Exactly. Cancer grows naturally in all of us, every day.
throwaway29812··on Moderna's mRNA cancer vaccine works better than thought
Blood clotting in COVID is higher than instances of Vaccine induced clotting, in every measure. For every example like your colleague, there are many more for COVID itself.

All of this is completely based on the individual case.

Also some markets just aren't worth it to large companies, and a start up dominating a small market is still a very heathy company.

throwaway29812··on How China's “debt traps” work
Influencing other countries, which again everyone does. Have they ever specifically threatened to, say withhold vaccines if a vote doesn't go their way?

https://apnews.com/article/united-nations-china-europe-ukrai...

Have they ever put countries into debt then stolen land based on that debt?

Your example btw was about raising arms for a third party conflict, not for something that directly benefits the US. Which weakens your argument.

throwaway29812··on How China's “debt traps” work
Aid for pro-democracy or pro-US policies is standard practice, of course.

But has the US threatened countries if they don't vote with them at the UN, or seized their land and/or assets for non payment of debt?

throwaway29812··on How China's “debt traps” work
Really? What record does the US have leveraging aid for UN votes, political concessions, or just seizing ports and land?
throwaway29812··on How China's “debt traps” work
When you do it at the scale described, and make real estate market with large bubbles the corner stone of your economy, you get a unique situation than cannot just be explained away with "other countries do this too"

throwaway29812··on Google Meet’s new AI will be able to go to meetings for you
> how about startups then?

The business model of a startup is to work everyone you have beyond their natural limits, this doesn't scale to an entire economy.

I know a few startups that laid off most of the revenue drivers in sales and marketing, but kept expensive founders and coders. They are on paper leaner, but not necessarily more efficient.

throwaway29812··on Google Meet’s new AI will be able to go to meetings for you
They are (or will soon), and that will create massive problems for stability of society at large (which is why government will have to intervene).
throwaway29812··on Google Meet’s new AI will be able to go to meetings for you
It's more simple than that. Most jobs don't need to exist, but most people need jobs for a society to function.

There is a basic conflict then between business (who optimize for cost) and government (who optimize for stability).

throwaway29812··on Huawei reportedly building 'secret' semiconductor fabs
..a good idea from the perspective of an authoritarian government. Not saying it's good for airplanes to do this.
throwaway29812··on Huawei reportedly building 'secret' semiconductor fabs
Yes but no government puts listening devices into their planes to spy on passengers considering they have full control.

Wait, that's actually a good idea. Probably likely that one of China/Russia/N Korea/Iran have done this.

throwaway29812··on Naomi Wu and the Silence That Speaks Volumes
I would argue it's more about eliminating bad faith actors from an otherwise healthy discussion. If you aren't arguing to make a point, just to get a reaction, you have no right to a platform.

throwaway29812··on Tuition costs have risen 710% since 1983
The problem with that is there still is very strong demand for new home buyers, many of whom just couldn't find anywhere to buy.

Yes prices are crazy but if demand is still not being met, then prices are meant to be crazy.
