throwaway2046··on Newgrounds.com – A community of games, music, and art
Nice to see Newgrounds is still alive and more or less unchanged since its early days. With so many of the creative spaces online becoming highly censored hellholes, having a more laissez-faire platform is a breath of fresh air.

throwaway2046··on Show HN: Drop – A rootless Linux sandbox with gVisor support
I've used proot in the past but it crashed often, I'm interested in finding other rootless chroot-like projects.
throwaway2046··on What's been going on in w64devkit the past year
w64devkit is an absolute joy to use, and I'm surprised that it's still not widely adopted by devs. Extracting a single ZIP archive to get a complete POSIX environment on Windows with all kinds of build tools is nothing short of impressive, and it even supports Windows XP! (minus CMake and a couple other tools)
throwaway2046··on Solo – a .so loader for static Linux binaries
> Just dynamically link against the oldest glibc you want to support.

Just the other day I tried running an older binary and it failed with a glibc error, despite it being linked to a glibc version that's barely 5 releases behind the one on my system. So maybe glibc isn't backwards compatible after all...

throwaway2046··on Ntsc-rs – open-source video emulation of analog TV and VHS artifacts
Looks interesting... Is there an equivalent encoder that can be used with this to generate VHS footage purely in software?

Could you provide a link to your project?
throwaway2046··on Experience: We found a baby on the subway – now he's our 26-year-old son
I see what you mean, but ultimately the video shows both the social worker and the judge were on the couple's side, despite the first impression... The social worker was painted as this very bureaucratic person who follows the rules to a tee, while still being sympathetic to the couple's situation. And the judge was painted as the intimidating figure with the final say, who eventually rules in favor of the couple and gives the child a permanent home. I agree with the other commenter who said the story was too good to be true, so the film making some artistic decisions for dramatic effect doesn't sound too bad.
throwaway2046··on Experience: We found a baby on the subway – now he's our 26-year-old son
Inspiring to see the couple accomplish this and in the early 2000s no less. Wishing them all the best. If you haven't already, watch the animated short film[1] by Zombie Studio. It was my introduction to this case before reading the article.

Debian offers Nvidia drivers as well although they tend to be outdated. Thankfully you can use Nvidia's official .deb repos to get the latest drivers on both Debian and Ubuntu.
throwaway2046··on State of Kdenlive
That's quite the impressive feature set. I do want to use Kdenlive but coming from Shotcut I didn't find the UI as easy to use, especially when it comes to handling the timeline... Maybe I'll try it again one day.

Absolutely amazing collection, and it has lossless FLACs too! Many thanks to the fans and IA for making this possible.

throwaway2046··on Ninja is a small build system with a focus on speed
Ninja is great and feels natural coming from Make. What it lacks in features it makes up for with speed, which is what ultimately matters.

Also worth mentioning is samurai[1], a pure C implementation of Ninja that's almost as fast yet easier to bootstrap needing only a C compiler.

throwaway2046··on Wine 11 rewrites how Linux runs Windows games at kernel with massive speed gains
> Stable ABI literally only benefits software where the user doesn’t have the source

Stable ABI benefits everyone. If I need to recompile a hundred packages with every OS update instead of doing real work then there's something seriously wrong with my OS.
