Some will go in, others will quit and then end up finding a different job that also requires them to go in, some will find a crappier job that lets them stay remote, and a few will win the lottery.
Well there’s alcoholic and functional alcoholic. There are actually functional heroin users too, but it’s taboo to mention it because one hit and you’re dead according to the media.
Switching to plant based alternatives won’t really fix the large fields of soy and corn that are the issue. We may need less to feed cattle then, but then we will need to produce more plant protein for direct human consumption or even bioreactors.
I don’t think it’s because of not wanting to preserve privacy I think it’s because it takes a shit ton of time to comply with all the orders the EU has pinned on them.
Did you forget about externalities and politics? Because nuclear would be way cheaper with practice building reactors, economies of scale, without billions in red tape, etc. not to mention it’s the best source of base load without creating massive amounts of air pollution or battery waste
I don’t totally disagree with your post but it is definitely fine to call out genocide even if your country doesn’t have the moral high ground. No one really has the high ground these days.
What a huge exaggeration. People were rightly angry after 9/11, but most Americans didn’t want to “kill all Muslims”. And having competition with china is not the same as hating them. China abused the US trade relation for a long time, but it’s hardly hate to play hardball back.
There are a TON of midrise apartment buildings under construction in the US, look at the stats on multifamily construction or just drive around. They don’t look like Paris but they exist. The problem is more that people don’t want neighbors because people are assholes.
High trust societies are so much more enjoyable and carefree. It’s too bad the culture now is to exploit everything so such places are going the way of the dodo.
Because companies want to return profits to shareholders. Share buybacks are more common now but achieve the same thing. If the company is still growing it should be reinvesting in the business rather than throwing off cash but some stable (or declining) businesses have no good way to do so. That’s why dividends can be a red flag.
