In the era of livestreams and corporate events, it had nowhere to go. ReedPop and the ESA could have tried numerous times to get consumer engagement up, by maybe offering demos of what was on the showfloor. But that never happened.
Hopefully smaller events like Gamescom, Paris Games Week, Siegecon, etc take time to look at where E3 failed, and aim to improve engagement with the consumer base. Of which to me, at least, feels a bit aimless due to the sorry state of games released in Generation 8.
Although to build DOTS they did poach a lot of ECS and Data-Oriented folks like Mike Acton, who left earlier this year.
This sadly tracks with my own experiences with Unity's tooling, where DOTS did ship but its implementation rots on the vine like every other tool they acquired. The company is woefully mismanaged, its been mismanaged, and given the very public pricing incident from a few weeks back, they aren't focusing on improvements to the engine, but on any way to scrap money from its users.
Bevy's ECS implementation is really good, and I want to see it succeed here, in addition to Godex.
Also, citing Nick Land (neo-nazi), Filippo Marinetti (co-author of the Fascist Manifesto), Milton Friedman and John Galt (A LITERALLY MADE UP CHARACTER) is a bad read. Yikes.
Bandcamp is heading for the dead pool, and it fucking sucks because it's my go to online music store. God damnit Epic.
