Not having air conditioning and sweating when there's 40 degrees Celsius is pretty unhappy moment. Not sure how he contradicted himself there. I can totally see where he is coming from. Having comfortable car, comfortable place to live can certainly give you long term happiness. I am sure in 20,30,40 years down the road if I won't have comfortable car and comfortable place to live I will be unhappy.

On that whole note. What is happiness? It's what we ourselves decide it to be. For me happiness is when I am content with myself.

I just don't get this obsession with Trump. So what if he is the president of the US? It doesn't change US one bit. You will still find the same people, the same cities, the same landscape as half year ago when Trump was not president yet. Why would you deprive yourself of broadening your horizons just because a guy who you don't like is in charge?

It all depends on individuum. I moved two countries to-date that couldn't be more culturaly and language different. I did learn languages before I moved though. Both me and my wife adapted within a week.

You remember when Trump said that Putin is strong leader and afterwards that if he is the president US won't be weak anymore? Well, he actually meant that Obama is weak and not that Putin is strong. But most of the media and people interpreted that as a thumbs up for Putin. Actually it was thumbs down - as in - it won't be so easy with me.

At this time we still cannot be sure who will win but all this to me looks like a big fuck you. It looks like a middle finger and it shows how disconnected media moguls, establishment, bureaucracy and "righteous" leftists-democracts are with the people on the ground.

It went so far that people who would vote for Trump lied in polls just so that they don't receive strange looks or something worse. That is the fear above mentioned "establishment" instilled into people. And it's not just US...

The meltdown of the "media" and shock is just pure funny.

I came to the UK in June this year. Both me and my wife moved because of the job. We are from another EU country.

What's interesting is that I signed us up for Tesco bank account but we were both rejected. Probably because we didn't have any history in UK yet but it still kind of sucked - now I am glad they rejected us. Ultimately the next day we went to red and blue US bank on the high street and got it all sorted within half an hour. We showed them contracts, documents and bills to our names (real estate agency through which we rent already sorted that out for us before we came) and we were done. Got our cards made at the spot as well.

So it was kind of the opposite for us. We could't get the bank account with Tesco because of their "security check" but could at the high street bank.

Maybe it's one of those things - you have to spend money to make money?

All in all, I don't personally have any issues with lighting up the Eiffel Tower if that means a lot of exposure and information about sick planet reaching more people.

What you are explaining is probably local authorities - humans hated your relatives because of their ethnicity and that was one of the reason they got sent to Siberia. Taking land though was widespread in USSR. It was taken from ethnic Russians as well.

The fact that minorities survived and thrived on the same scale as Russians and got sent and taken land from on the same scale as Russians and got sent to Siberia on the same scale as Russians is a proof that there was no policy to destroy particular minority on a state level.
